In There Outside<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p>With \u201c\u2026by the word\u2026\u201d,\u00a0<strong><b>Trelldom<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0are\u00a0pushing forward hard into their new musical era that was ushered in by the previous full-length \u201c\u2026by the shadows\u2026\u201d (2024), which ended a\u00a017-year hiatus of the Norwegian band.<\/p>\n<p>Mastermind\u00a0Kristian Eivind Espedal aka Gaahl and his diligently selected\u00a0collaborators have gone even\u00a0beyond the complex yet sinister sound that they established with\u00a0\u201c\u2026by the shadows\u2026\u201d. The exponentially\u00a0grown confidence and hard-gained experience of joining together seemingly quite different musicians is reflected clearly in each track of\u00a0\u201c\u2026by the word\u2026\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>Trelldom<\/b>\u00a0<\/strong>have concluded the process of\u00a0escaping the narrowest definition of black metal without compromising their artistic mission. Their music does not only stay loyal to the spirit of their black metal roots, but the Norwegians are making a solid point that their new sound is even more\u00a0dark and fierce than ever before \u2013 just in more twisted and unhinged ways.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2026by the word\u2026\u201d is the result of\u00a0Espedal expanding the immense range of his vocals even further into unexplored territories. And it should be noted that this was partly achieved by his return to the famous Grieghallen Studios in Bergen to work again with legendary producer Eirik Hundvin aka Pytten, who was instrumental in the creation of the \u2018Norwegian black metal\u2019 sound.<\/p>\n<p>Although Espedal remains firmly at the helm of\u00a0<strong><b>Trelldom<\/b><\/strong>, the current line-up plays a massive part in the fresh exploration of\u00a0musical extremes.\u00a0Guitarist\u00a0Stian \u201cSir\u201d K\u00e5rstad (formerly also in <b>Djerv)<\/b> guarantees a form of continuity as he already contributed to the second and third album of the band. Furthermore, the new constellation\u00a0features renowned percussionist Kenneth Kapstad, formerly of <b>Motorpsycho\u00a0<\/b>and hammering the drums in <b>Spidergawd,<\/b>\u00a0<b>M\u00f8ster!,<\/b> and <b>Thorns.<\/b> Kapstad brought\u00a0the internationally acclaimed\u00a0jazz musician and saxophone player Kjetil M\u00f8ster (<b>M\u00f8ster!, R\u00f6yksopp, The End)<\/b> along. Bass player\u00a0Eirik \u00d8ien is the latest addition to the cast of characters.<\/p>\n<p><strong><b>Trelldom<\/b>\u00a0<\/strong>were founded by\u00a0Gaahl in Sunnfjord, Vestland\u00a0in 1992. The band\u2019s\u00a0early trilogy of albums, \u201cTil evighet\u2026\u201d (1995),\u00a0\u201cTil et annet\u2026\u201d (1999), and\u00a0\u201cTil minne\u2026\u201d (2007) are all regarded as underground milestones of\u00a0black metal history.\u00a0Espedal is widely accepted as one\u00a0of the leading figures of the Nordic black metal scene. The enigmatic vocalist joined the notorious Bergen outfit <b>Gorgoroth <\/b>in 1998\u00a0but soon contributed to a wider range of projects that include\u00a0Einar Selvik\u2019s <b>Wardruna,<\/b> <b>God Seed,<\/b> and in 2015 he also launched his new band\u00a0<b>Gaahls Wyrd.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong><b>Trelldom<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0continue in the tradition of all of\u00a0Espedal\u2019s art, which asks\u00a0to\u00a0always expect the unexpected. With \u201c\u2026by the word\u2026\u201d the exploration of\u00a0avant-garde dissonance, wicked rhythm patterns, and wild ideas again destroys\u00a0preconceptions and\u00a0demands intense listening.
