Soon Manchester<\/a>\u2019s Etihad Campus, the home of Man City FC, won\u2019t just be a place for fans of The Citizens to have a belter of a time. Later this year the area will welcome a vast, game-changing new\u00a0<\/span>\u00a3300 million entertainment complex.<\/span><\/p>\n Medlock Square<\/strong>, named after the River Medlock which runs beneath the site, will\u00a0be sandwiched between\u00a0the Etihad Stadium and the Co-op Live arena, which opened just under two years ago<\/a>\u00a0and hosted the BRIT Awards last week.<\/span><\/p>\n Expect market halls, coffee shops and casual dining spots by day, with fancier restaurants taking centre-stage once the sun begins to set. But\u00a0Medlock Square is no typical eating, drinking and shopping emporium. Oh no.\u00a0<\/p>\n Medlock Square will have a covered space at its centre\u00a0that is dedicated to the music and dance, with space for a whopping 3,000 people to shake a leg.\u00a0There\u2019s\u00a0also\u00a0a basketball\u00a0arena, a swanky sky bar and a roof walk experience with abseiling and zipwires (not to mention gorgeous views of the city\u2019s skyline).\u00a0<\/p>\n While Medlock Square is designed for both locals and tourists, <\/span>being\u00a0so close to the\u00a0Etihad means that a fair bit of the programming will, of course,\u00a0revolve around the footy. <\/span>Promo materials<\/span><\/a> for the new space hint at huge screenings of games\u00a0so that fans without a ticket to the stadium next door can\u00a0still enjoy the beautiful game from the comfort of a deck chair or beanbag.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n A new flagship City store is planned as part of the development, while fans can relive the magic of historic wins at an all-new immersive and interactive Museum Experience.<\/span><\/p>\n Redevelopment plans for the Etihad and its surrounding area have\u00a0been in the works since April 2023<\/a>. Expansion of\u00a0the stadium\u2019s north stand has already added 7,000 new seats, as well as a new bar and hospitality offering, while\u00a0<\/span>a 401-room hotel opened its doors on the site last month \u2013 with some views even overlooking the pitch.<\/span><\/p>\n <\/p>\n Medlock Square\u2019s official launch date hasn\u2019t been announced yet, but we can expect the new entertainment hub to open its gates before the end of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n Did you see that a\u00a0new 16,000-capacity football stadium will transform one of England\u2019s greatest cities<\/a>?
