\n Britney Spears<\/a> was arrested Wednesday night, according to information from Ventura County, California authorities.\n <\/p>\n \n Booking information obtained by celebrity.land shows that the pop superstar was stopped by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) around 9:30 p.m., was booked shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday and later released.\n <\/p>\n \n CHP public information officer Ryan Ayers confirmed to celebrity.land via phone on Thursday that Spears was arrested on suspicion of DUI.\n <\/p>\n \n Her vehicle was towed, according to the arrest information.\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cThis was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,\u201d a representative for Spears told celebrity.land in an email. \u201cBritney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney\u2019s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n \u201cHer boys are going to be spending time with her,\u201d the representative said. \u201cHer loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well being.\u201d\n <\/p>\n \n It is not the first time Spears has had legal issues.\n <\/p>\n \n She was charged with misdemeanor hit-and-run in 2007 which was later dismissed after she paid for the damages.<\/a>\n <\/p>\n \n The following year she was hospitalized for a psychiatric evaluation. Her father, Jamie Spears, was subsequently granted what was initially temporary conservatorship over her assets.\n <\/p>\n \n That conservatorship was later extended and lasted for 13 years, prompting fans to start a \u201cFree Britney<\/a>\u201d movement aimed at ending it.\n <\/p>\n
