But one exchange stood out: When Sen. John Kennedy<\/a> (R-La.) asked about a $220 million ad campaign that featured Noem wearing chaps and a cowboy hat on horseback. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cShe passed the blame on to definitely the wrong guy,\u201d Colbert said, and rolled a clip of Noem insisting that Trump himself approved of those ads. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cNo,\u201d Colbert warned. \u201cDon\u2019t ever blame anything on Donald Trump.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

Then he broke out his impression of the president.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cLadies and gentlemen, it has come to my attention that Kristi Noem is just days away from developing a nuclear weapon,\u201d he said. \u201cWe have no choice but to strike and strike hard.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With Noem on the outs, Colbert said it was time to focus on the future. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou know which Cabinet member I hope Trump fires next?\u201d he asked. \u201cAll of them!\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cClean slate,\u201d he said. \u201cSweep it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Narrowing it down to a single person, however, Colbert did have an idea on who should go next.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
