Ben Stiller<\/span><\/a> blasted the<\/span> White House<\/span><\/a> on Friday after it used a clip from his 2008 comedy, \u201d<\/span>Tropic Thunder,\u201d<\/span><\/a> for a social media post that seemed intended to get Americans pumped up for<\/span> a war with Iran.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The White House posted a 42-second testosterone-drenched clip on Thursday captioned \u201cJUSTICE THE AMERICAN WAY,\u201d that featured clips from Stiller\u2019s comedy, as well as \u201cBraveheart,\u201d \u201cGladiator,\u201d \u201cBreaking Bad,\u201d and \u201cThe Matrix.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The clip received a lot of mockery, as well as an angry request from Stiller, who directed and co-wrote \u201cTropic Thunder.\u201d On Friday, he called out the White House for using scenes from the film without permission.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHey White House,\u201d Stiller posted. \u201cPlease remove the Tropic Thunder clip. We never gave you permission and have no interest in being a part of your propaganda machine. War is not a movie.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, the post Stiller criticized appears to be part of a series of social media posts that use pop culture references to get Americans excited about war.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Wednesday, the Trump administration <\/span>posted a video<\/span><\/a> combining clips from the \u201cGrand Theft Auto\u201d video game franchise with what appeared to be real footage of strikes on Iranian targets.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Trump administration has a long history of using film clips or songs \u2015 typically without permission \u2015 to promote the president and\/or his initiatives.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Earlier this week,<\/span> Radiohead told the Trump White to \u201cgo fuck yourselves,\u201d<\/span><\/a> after Immigration and Customs Enforcement used their song, \u201cLet Down,\u201d to speak out against what it called \u201ccriminal illegal alien violence.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In December, Sabrina Carpenter attacked the White House after it used her song, \u201cJuno,\u201d for a post of clips<\/span> showing ICE agents arresting people.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThis video is evil and disgusting,\u201d<\/span><\/a> she wrote on X. \u201cDo not ever involve me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Back in October, Kenny Loggins lambasted the Trump administration for using his song,<\/span> \u201cDanger Zone,\u201d<\/span><\/a> for an AI video showing the president dumping feces on Americans<\/span> protesting his policies<\/span><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
