Pixar<\/a> is hoping for a much-needed win this weekend with its original animated adventure \u201cHoppers<\/a>,\u201d which secured the top spot at the Friday box office.<\/p>\n

\u201cHoppers<\/a>\u201d earned $13.2 million on Friday from 4,000 North American theaters. Disney and Pixar expect $40 million by Sunday, a figure that could run much higher thanks to stellar word of mouth and a lack of family-friendly fare in cinemas.<\/p>\n

The animated comedy follows 19-year-old environmentalist Mabel<\/a>, who transfers her consciousness to a robotic beaver (ala \u201cAvatar\u201d) to infiltrate the complicated world of the animal kingdom. \u201cWe Bare Bears<\/a>\u201d creator Daniel Chong<\/a> serves as director and co-wrote the screenplay with Jesse Andrews<\/a>. Cast members include Piper Curda<\/a>, Bobby Moynihan<\/a>, Jon Hamm<\/a>, Kathy Najimy<\/a>, Dave Franco<\/a>, Eduardo Franco<\/a> and Aparna Nancherla<\/a>.<\/p>\n
