Mayci Neeley Mayci Neeley responded to critics of her memoir, Told You So<\/em>, which she released last year<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Speaking to PEOPLE, the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em> star acknowledges that she\u2019s seen criticism by readers that the memoir is \u201cso poorly written\u201d or \u201cso elementary\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n Neeley maintains that the writing style is \u201chow it was supposed to be\u201d \u2014 akin to a diary<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n Mayci Neeley<\/a> has heard the critics of her memoir \u2014\u00a0and she thinks they didn\u2019t understand her vision.<\/p>\n Last year, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives<\/em><\/a> star, 31, published<\/a> her debut book: a memoir, titled Told You So<\/em>, that charts her teenage years growing up Mormon, losing the father of her first child in a car accident while she was pregnant and the breakout success of MomTok over the last few years.<\/p>\n Ahead of Mormon Wives <\/em>season 4, which streams on Hulu on March 12, she’s reflecting on the book\u2019s launch and promotion,\u00a0which was on the heels of her giving birth to baby No. 3<\/a> in July.<\/p>\n \u201cThe best part [of releasing the book] is seeing how many women have DMed me and how many people it\u2019s impacted,\u201d she tells PEOPLE. \u201cI think that\u2019s the coolest part of it.\u201d<\/p>\n ‘Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Cast Members But it hasn\u2019t been all sunshine and rainbows: Neeley acknowledges that she\u2019s seen criticism by readers that the memoir is \u201cso poorly written\u201d or \u201cso elementary.\u201d But the reality TV star maintains that the writing style is \u201chow it was supposed to be\u201d \u2014 akin to a diary.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m not writing super eloquently in it, you know what I mean?\u201d she says. \u201cI\u2019m just writing down my thoughts in that moment. So I think that some people maybe didn\u2019t understand that.\u201d<\/p>\n Still, Neeley says it\u2019s been \u201chard\u201d to hear some of the backlash: \u201cI put it all out there, and then I get a lot of criticism for the writing style and stuff. And it\u2019s like, well, OK. It was supposed to be like a diary.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBut other than that,\u201d concludes the reality TV star, \u201cthe impact is so much louder than the criticism, and it\u2019s been honestly amazing overall.
