Audrey Hepburn<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s son Sean Hepburn Ferrer<\/strong> has high hopes for Lily Collins<\/a><\/strong>\u2019 portrayal of his late mother in an upcoming biopic.<\/p>\n

\u201cI love Lily Collins. Sam Wasson<\/strong>, the book\u2019s writer, is a good friend of mine and I\u2019m very happy for him,\u201d Ferrer, 65, said during an interview with Fox News Digital<\/a>, published on Sunday, March 8. \u201cI don\u2019t have any huge thoughts on the film as it hasn\u2019t been made yet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collins, 36, received widespread criticism after it was announced late last month that she was cast as Hepburn in the upcoming adaptation of Wasson\u2019s 2010 book, Fifth Avenue, 5 A.M.: Audrey Hepburn, Breakfast at Tiffany\u2019s and the Dawn of the Modern Woman<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s with almost 10 years of development and a lifetime of admiration and adoration for Audrey that I\u2019m finally able to share this,\u201d Collins announced via Instagram on February 23. \u201cHonored and ecstatic don\u2019t begin to express how I feel.\u201d<\/p>\n

Her post garnered mixed reactions<\/a>, with some thinking she was the perfect casting. Others were more concerned with the role impacting another season of Netflix\u2019s Emily in Paris<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI believe that my mother might cringe at \u2018Dawn of the Modern Woman,\u2019 but she cringed at any compliment,\u201d Ferrer continued during Sunday\u2019s interview. \u201cAnd now there are two films in prep for her, this one and Dinner with Audrey<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI\u2019m not sure how one adapts such a \u2018historical snapshot.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

The second film Ferrer mentioned, Dinner With Audrey<\/em>, is set to follow the friendship between Hepburn and designer Hubert de Givenchy<\/strong>. Thomasin McKenzie<\/strong> was cast as Hepburn while Ansel Elgort<\/strong> is set to play Givenchy.<\/p>\n

Hepburn became a film and fashion icon throughout her career, which spanned from the late 1940s until the 1990s. She died at age 63 in 1992 after being diagnosed with appendiceal cancer.<\/p>\n
