Timed to fill the gap left by Glastonbury\u2019s this year, the events focus on influential independent venues to major city spectacles.<\/p>\n<p>The May schedule features <strong>Sound City (May 2\u20133)<\/strong>, the <strong>Dark Reign Metal Fest<\/strong> at Birkenhead\u2019s Future Yard, and the <strong>Baltic Weekender (May 30\u201331)<\/strong>. Spotlighted performances include <strong>Emmy Lou Harris<\/strong>, <strong>James Morrison<\/strong>, and <strong>Scott Bradlee\u2019s Postmodern Jukebox<\/strong>, alongside a diverse calendar at the <strong>Liverpool Philharmonic<\/strong> featuring the <strong>Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra<\/strong> and <strong>Roland Gif<\/strong>t.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cMusic is at the heart of the Liverpool City Region, it\u2019s part of our DNA and we need no excuse to celebrate our musical capabilities. Our artists have inspired generations and taken the world by storm. It is why Liverpool was designated a UNESCO City of Music more than ten years ago.<\/em> <strong>Cllr Mike Wharton (Liverpool City Region Deputy Mayor<\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p>As a <strong>UNESCO City of Music<\/strong>, Liverpool is twinning this initiative with <strong>New York Music Month<\/strong>. This transatlantic partnership celebrates both cities\u2019 musical legacies and strengthens international cultural ties. Local leaders and industry experts, including <strong>Sound City<\/strong>\u2019s <strong>Becky Ayres<\/strong> and singer-songwriter <strong>Jamie Webster<\/strong>, emphasise that the program aims to capture the <strong>\u201cEurovision energy\u201d<\/strong> of 2023, ensuring the party spirit stays alive in the streets and squares of the city region.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><\/figure>\n<p><em>\u201cEvery year I\u2019m usually performing at festivals around this time, but this year I\u2019ll be staying in Liverpool and enjoying what our music city has to offer. Is there a better city than this place? Nothing better than when the sun is out by the Mersey and there\u2019s music on the Pier Head or having a scran on Bold Street before a gig at The Jac or catching a random acoustic set on the street. I know where I\u2019d rather be: in my Liverpool home.\u201d<\/em> <strong>Jamie Webster<\/strong> (singer\/songwriter)<\/p>\n<p>Beyond May, the <strong>Summer of Music<\/strong> continues through to August. Major highlights include <strong>Foo Fighters<\/strong> and <strong>My Chemical Romance<\/strong> at Anfield Stadium, <strong>Lewis Capaldi<\/strong> at Sefton Park, and <strong>Nile Rodgers &amp; Chic<\/strong> at Bootle\u2019s Lock and Quay.
