The event is free and open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>MCC is the first college to host a showcase at the Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience. The evening will highlight student musicians and visual artists while also inviting the community to experience their work.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a great experience for our amazingly talented students, faculty, and staff,\u201d said Mitch Brantley, division chair of communication and fine arts and guitar instructor at MCC. \u201cIt\u2019s an outreach to the community to share how creative these students are. It\u2019s an honor to perform and present at The MAX, which celebrates Mississippians.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The celebration will feature live performances by several MCC ensembles, including the Concert Choir, Dimensions vocal group\u00a0and\u00a0rock band, Guitar Ensemble, Resurrection Jazz Band, and the Screaming Eagle Community Concert Band.<\/p>\n<p>Students in the MCC Guitar Ensemble will perform a mix of movie and television themes, hymns, blues,\u00a0and an Irish song. The group is directed by Brantley and includes Timiahis Brown Wallace, Malachi Foster, James Hicks, and Haley Reynolds.<\/p>\n<div class=\"instory_widget\" style=\"list-style:none;\">\n<div class=\"textwidget custom-html-widget\">\nNewsletter sign up WIDGET<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"section\">&#13;<br \/>\n\tEmail newsletter signup&#13;<br \/>\n<\/h3>\n<p><!-- Begin Mailchimp Signup Form -->\n<link href=\"https:\/\/cdn-images.mailchimp.com\/embedcode\/slim-10_7.css\" rel=\"stylesheet\" type=\"text\/css\"\/>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The MCC Concert Choir, under the direction of Tammy Miles, MCC\u00a0choir director\u00a0and music instructor, will present a variety of choral selections, including \u201cRide On, King Jesus\u201d by Edward Boatner, \u201cUbi Caritas\u201d by Michael John Trotta, and \u201cLet Everything That Hath Breath\u201d by Jeffery Ames. Concert choir members include Lauren Broome, Wallace, Kyndal Cochran, Jaidia Cockrell, Desiray Coffie, Arron Davis, Margarita Gonzalez, Matthew Jackson, Jozlyn Spears, Scarlett Walker, Tiyanna Ward, Sarah-Anne Warren, Aidyn Way, and Jaden White.<\/p>\n<p>Dimensions, MCC\u2019s contemporary vocal group and rock band, will perform popular songs such as \u201cFree Ride\u201d by Edgar Winter, \u201cNew York State of Mind\u201d by Billy Joel,\u00a0and Broadway musical selections. Dimension members include Broome, Wallace, Davis, Gonzalez, Jackson, Reynolds, Walker, Ward, Warren, and Way. The Dimensions are guided by Miles, artistic director; Brantley, instrumental director; and Daniel Boles, technical director.<\/p>\n<p>Also offering music will be the Screaming Eagle Concert Band and the Resurrection Jazz Band, both under the direction of Chris King. Among the selections performed will include \u201cBonds of Unity March,\u201d \u201cPure Imagination,\u201d \u201cThe Wild Westerns,\u201d\u00a0\u201cA Million Dreams,\u201d \u201cSymphony of Sit-Coms,\u201d \u201cLeap Frog,\u201d \u201cBlue Bossa,\u201d \u201cSkylark,\u201d \u201cStraighten Up and Fly Right,\u201d \u201cJoe Avery Blues,\u201d and \u201cSplanky.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the musical performances, guests will be able to explore an exhibition featuring visual art, including paintings, drawings, and designs created by MCC students. Terrell Taylor is the MCC art instructor and Casteel Gallery director, and is coordinating the art students\u2019 participation in the celebration.<\/p>\n<p>MCC Speech Instructor Erica Stokes will serve as the emcee for the event.<\/p>\n<p>Food will be available for purchase in the courtyard during the event.
