{"id":2320365,"date":"2026-03-09T21:13:09","date_gmt":"2026-03-09T21:13:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2320365"},"modified":"2026-03-09T21:13:09","modified_gmt":"2026-03-09T21:13:09","slug":"britney-spears-on-edge-over-dad-dad-jamie-returning-to-her-life-after-dui","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/britney-spears-on-edge-over-dad-dad-jamie-returning-to-her-life-after-dui\/","title":{"rendered":"Britney Spears &#8216;on edge&#8217; over dad dad Jamie returning to her life after DUI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Britney Spears has been \u201cantagonized\u201d by efforts from estranged family members urging her to reunite with her estranged father, Jamie Spears.<\/p>\n<p>A Los Angeles associate of Britney \u2014 who has regular contact with her friend group and her family \u2014exclusively tells Page Six that the troubled pop star is \u201con edge\u201d over the prospect of Jamie coming back into her life after <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/06\/celebrity-news\/how-britney-spears-dui-arrest-could-land-star-back-in-conservatorship-expert\/\">her DUI arrest.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On his part, Jamie \u2014 who <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2024\/04\/26\/entertainment\/britney-spears-settles-conservatorship-case-with-estranged-dad-jamie\/\">ran Britney\u2019s conservatorship for 12 years<\/a> \u2014 \u201cdoesn\u2019t want to remain disconnected from his daughter\u201d anymore.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wants the chance to be able to talk with her and find some middle ground,\u201d the associate says.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Britney Spears (seen above with her parents) is \u201con edge\u201d about her estranged dad, Jamie Spears, coming back into her life after her DUI arrest, according to one of her Los Angeles associates.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><figcaption>The associate tells Page Six that Britney (seen above in her car in October 2025) feels \u201cantagonized\u201d by her family members trying to push for a reunion with Jamie. <span class=\"credit\">IXOLA \/ BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>The associate also claims that <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/06\/celebrity-news\/britney-spears-son-jayden-rushes-to-her-side-after-dui-arrest\/\">Britney\u2019s sons, Sean Preston, 20, and Jayden, 19, <\/a>have been supportive voices of Jamie, 73, and the possibility of their grandpa reconciling with their mom.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven the boys have gotten back into their grandad\u2019s life after some tough times,\u201d the insider says. \u201cThey would welcome a united family despite all the years of drama.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 44-year-old singer, however, \u201cis antagonized by the subject\u201d of her father.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is long-term hatred and loathing that may never be overcome,\u201d the source tells us. \u201cJamie puts Britney on edge, and her moods get deeply dark around the prospect of him being in her life \u2026 despite efforts by people in her life for some reunion.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Britney has \u201cfull-term hatred\u201d for her father, according to the associate. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>The associate claims Britney\u2019s two sons are on good terms again with Jamie (seen above leaving Los Angeles County Court House in October 2012). <span class=\"credit\">Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThat has increased in recent months with the boys being around more. There is a direct correlation between that stress and Britney turning to alcohol to numb that pain. Sadly she will always view her father as a villain, because of how she felt trapped and controlled within the conservatorship.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The insider adds, \u201cShe hated having to adhere to regular doctor visits, therapy sessions, and medication plans. That is understandable for someone who is dealing with a bipolar condition. Obviously, a father overseeing the principle of that process is a tricky situation \u2014 not least emotionally \u2014 but her condition needed some medical supervision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another source connected to the family told Page Six that Jamie \u201chas suffered with health severely in recent years\u201d and \u201cis deeply hurt at how his daughter refuses to consider ever speaking to him again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe held out hope when his life seemed in a perilous state that his daughter would visit him,\u201d the source noted, \u201cbut that never happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><figcaption>Jamie (seen above with ex-wife Lynne in 2012) allegedly \u201cdoesn\u2019t want to remain disconnected\u201d from Britney anymore. <span class=\"credit\">Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><figcaption>According to the associate, Britney\u2019s \u201cmoods get deeply dark\u201d around the prospect of her dad being back in her life. <span class=\"credit\">Clint Brewer Photography \/ BACKGRID<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>While the <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/10\/21\/celebrity-news\/why-freebritney-will-not-re-form-to-save-spears\/\">#FreeBritney movement<\/a> presented the singer\u2019s father as the villain, family friends claim that \u201cJamie only ever wanted to keep his daughter alive, and also financially solvent, in that order.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJamie has consistently told those around him that he remains proud that he did \u2019save Britney\u2019s life,\u2019 no matter how the public may feel,\u201d the family friends add.<\/p>\n<p>They also alleged that there\u2019s been \u201cvarious failed attempts\u201d to reunite Jamie and Britney, who \u201cseems terrified\u201d that her dad \u201cwill somehow regain the conservatorship, which obviously is a very challenging legal task and something Jamie doesn\u2019t have the energy to consider.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Back in 2021, Jamie\u2019s lawyer, Vivian L. By nature, the structure includes safeguards to protect the conservatee from self-harm or harm from others,\u201d added Thoreen.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no doubt that the conservatorship saved Ms. Spears from disaster, supported her when she needed it the most, protected her and her reputation from harm, and facilitated the restoration of her career.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Last fall, <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/06\/celebrity-news\/kevin-federline-breaks-silence-on-britney-spears-dui-arrest\/\">Britney\u2019s ex Kevin Federline<\/a> \u2014 with whom she shares her sons \u2014 expressed concern in <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2026\/03\/05\/celebrity-news\/kevin-federlines-book-sent-britney-spears-into-spiral-that-led-to-dui-arrest\/\">his memoir <\/a>that Britney could have the same fate as late pop divas like Whitney Houston and Amy Winehouse.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is what I\u2019m warning people \u2026 there is a serious issue,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI don\u2019t want this to be another Whitney.
