She claims in a lawsuit that she then gave her pal the cheeky nickname in reference to infamous intern Monica Lewinsky, who Clinton <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2014\/05\/06\/monica-lewinsky-breaks-silence-on-affair-with-bill-clinton\/\">had an affair with.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn communications with Sanchez, Zabel sometimes used the name \u2018Monica\u2019 to refer to Sanchez,\u201d according to the lawsuit, in which Zabel claims the helicopter pilot stole her idea for a children\u2019s book.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Lauren Sanchez interviewed former President Bill Clinton\u00a0on ExtraTV in 2010. <span class=\"credit\">EXTRA<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Zabel claims S\u00e1nchez, married to Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell at the time, \u201cseemed to have enjoyed this nickname.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe said [Clinton] was so sexy and mesmerizing,\u201d Zabel separately told The Post.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cShe really wanted to meet him and get an interview \u2026 She couldn\u2019t stop talking about Bill Clinton.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2010, Sanchez did interview Clinton for TV show \u201cExtra,\u201d and fans noticed their flirty exchanges at the time. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The personal anecdote is one of several referenced in the lawsuit, which was filed in federal court in California and names S\u00e1nchez, publisher The Collective Book Studio and distributor Simon &amp; Schuster as defendants.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Zabel said she worked privately with Sanchez for several years.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Zabel alleges S\u00e1nchez\u2019s 2024 book \u201cThe Fly Who Flew to Space\u201d copies key elements from her children\u2019s title \u201cDharma Kitty Goes to Mars,\u201d published a year earlier.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, the two women first discussed the idea of creating a children\u2019s book together years earlier after S\u00e1nchez recounted a helicopter trip with a fly stuck to the windshield the entire flight. Knowing Zabel had written numerous kids\u2019 books, the pair talked about drawing inspiration from the moment into a story.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s paralyzing to watch a former client with a vendetta against you who marries the richest guy in world, then takes your hearts passion and pretends it\u2019s hers,\u201d Zabel told The Post, referencing Sanchez\u2019s 2025 marriage to<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/12\/29\/celebrity-news\/watch-jeff-bezos-and-lauren-sanchez-party-in-st-barts\/\"> Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Zabel claims that after years of friendship, Sanchez cut off all contact with her in 2009, after the yoga teacher upstaged her pal on the dancefloor of her 40<sup>th<\/sup> <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2025\/12\/21\/celebrity-news\/lauren-sanchez-celebrates-first-birthday-as-jeff-bezos-wife-in-lavish-party-with-kardashians\/\">birthday party<\/a>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Alanna Zabel is suing Lauren S\u00e1nchez for allegedly stealing her book idea.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Monica Lewinsky was catapulted into the spotlight in the late 1990s after then-US president Bill Clinton admitted to having had an affair with her.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Zabel <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/aziam.com\/archives\/2430\">claims in her lawsuit <\/a>S\u00e1nchez took plot points, story arcs and subject matter from her book.<\/p>\n<p>The yogi told The Post she believes Sanchez felt inferior to Jeff Bezos\u2019 novelist ex-wife, McKenzie Scott, and wanted him to believe she cared about things he did.<\/p>\n<p>Scott <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.goodreads.com\/author\/list\/38752654.MacKenzie_Scott\">wrote novels<\/a> \u201cThe Testing of Luther Albright\u201d in 2005 and \u201cTraps\u201d in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Zabel is seeking unspecified damages for alleged copyright infringement.<\/p>\n<p>However, Sanchez\u2019s attorneys argue her \u201cclaim is frivolous,\u201d according to an August 2025 court filing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Works are not similar other than the fact that they are both children\u2019s books that involve a spontaneous trip to space,\u201d it read.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Before filing her lawsuit,\u00a0Alanna Zabel\u00a0sent a cease-and-desist letter to Lauren\u00a0S\u00e1nchez\u00a0in March 2024 and to\u00a0S\u00e1nchez\u2019s\u00a0publisher in April 2024.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Sanchez\u2019s book,\u00a0The Fly Who Flew to Space,\u00a0is based on a fly named Flynn who follows her dream of becoming an astronaut and\u00a0makes her way to a rocketship.\u00a0<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201c(Zabel) does not own the concept of a school-age character unexpectedly taking a trip to and from space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(Zabel) attacks Ms.Sanchez with irrelevant allegations that she is jealous of Plaintiff, \u2018harbor[s] resentment towards,\u2019 and is out \u2018to exact revenge\u2019 or is \u2018trolling\u2019 Plaintiff.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThose allegations are irrelevant to a copyright infringement analysis, but are clearly intended to color this Court against Ms. Sanchez in the hope that it will think there is no smoke without fire. This Court should disregard them.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>S\u00e1nchez\u2019s rep declined to comment to The Post about the allegations in the complaint, which have not been proven in court.
