Kacey Musgraves is expected to unveil her new single, \u201cDry Spell,\u201d on Wednesday (March 11) ahead of the announcement of her seventh studio album, which will be out this year through Lost Highway.<\/p>\n
Musgraves has put up billboards in several cities that read \u201cdry spell? Call for a real good time.\u201d In a teaser<\/a> posted today, she sings, \u201cain\u2019t nobody\u2019s tool up in my shed \/ ain\u2019t nobody\u2019s boots under my bed \/ ain\u2019t nobody\u2019s truck in my drive \/ for a late night call for a real good time.\u201d The video was captioned with the phrase \u201cyou up?\u201d<\/p>\n More from Spin:<\/p>\n Last year<\/a>, Musgraves returned to the newly reactivated Lost Highway, to which she signed in 2011 shortly before the imprint was absorbed by Mercury Records. That label ultimately released her Grammy-winning 2013 debut,\u00a0Same Trailer Different Park<\/em>.<\/p>\n She told the Hollywood Reporter<\/em> at the time that she loves \u201cbeing in a period of time where I\u2019m not rushed by a deadline and have the space to mosey and poke around. I\u2019m not sure yet where it\u2019s going to end up.\u00a0There was\u00a0Same Trailer,<\/em>\u00a0then\u00a0Pageant Material\u00a0<\/em>went even harder in the country direction \u2014 it was a love letter to all the classic country I love. Naturally, it felt good for me to explore some other sounds, and I went into\u00a0Golden Hour<\/em>\u00a0territory. Then I went through a divorce and was in a really intense place in my life, and I went in the opposite direction with\u00a0Star Crossed<\/em>. With\u00a0Deeper Well<\/em>, I swung back in toward my center.\u00a0 I\u2019ve been feeling really good playing around with some more \u2014 I want to say \u2018traditional\u2019 \u2014 but at the same time, there always has to be a modern edge there in some way. There has to be a balance between tradition and future.\u201d<\/p>\n The new album will be the follow-up to 2024\u2019s Deeper Well<\/em>, which debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200<\/em> and No. 1 on the Country albums tally.
