Frisco\u2019s top official is looking forward to Taylor Sheridan\u2019s new Paramount+ show filming in his city.<\/p>\n

Word broke late last month<\/a> that Sheridan\u2019s forthcoming \u201cTulsa King\u201d spinoff had been retitled from \u201cNOLA King\u201d to \u201cFrisco King,\u201d in reference to the North Texas city. Filming is slated to begin later this month in Fort Worth, Frisco and other surrounding cities.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrisco King\u201d will star Samuel L. Jackson as Russell Lee Washington Jr., a hitman that crossed paths with Sylvester Stallone\u2019s \u201cTulsa King\u201d character Dwight Manfredi. Jackson appeared in the final two episodes of the show\u2019s third season last year.<\/p>\n

Frisco Mayor Jeff Cheney<\/a> recently posted a lengthy message on Facebook<\/a> about the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cLights, camera, action! There has been a lot of buzz since last week\u2019s announcement of \u2018Frisco King,\u2019 the new spinoff from hit show \u2018Tulsa King\u2019 and starring Samuel L. Jackson and written by Taylor Sheridan,\u201d Cheney wrote.<\/p>\n

\u2018Frisco King\u2019 is coming to North Texas<\/h2>\n

After the announcement, Cheney said he met with the show\u2019s producers to learn more about what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n

The first three episodes are written and filming will begin later this month. Much of the daily filming will take place in Fort Worth, but the production will need one to two shooting days in Frisco for each episode on top of capturing b-roll upfront.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo you will be seeing them around town fairly often over the coming months,\u201d Cheney wrote.<\/p>\n

Like \u201cTulsa King,\u201d Cheney said that \u201cFrisco King\u201d will have a similar \u201cfish out of water\u201d premise.<\/p>\n

This means that Jackson\u2019s character will give up his New Orleans roots to start a new life in \u201cmodern day Mayberry.\u201d The rationale comes from Stallone\u2019s character who tells Jackson he needs to visit Frisco.<\/p>\n

As far as what to expect in Frisco hallmarks, Cheney said that the producers joked that nobody knows the direction of the script until Sheridan writes it, including himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey did say they would be portraying in a positive light and Frisco is one of the \u2018characters\u2019 in the show that the community will be proud of,\u201d Cheney wrote.<\/p>\n

Around 70% of the cast will be locals and there will be a separate talent page for Frisco residents looking to work on the show as extras, Cheney noted.<\/p>\n

Texas-based Legacy Casting announced last week<\/a> that it\u2019s looking for background actors for a variety of roles. All roles will be paid and vary in the hours of work. To apply for any of these roles, Legacy is asking folks to visit MyCastingFile.com.<\/p>\n

Cheney plans to share more about \u201cFrisco King\u201d in the coming months.<\/p>\n
