To celebrate, the theater has launched its Centennial Campaign to build an inclusive, accessible and sustainable future.\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">The touring International Guitar Night is often a sell-out show at the Lincoln Theatre. (Courtesy Damian Vines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>A celebration will take place April 24-26, to \u201csupport this important effort that will keep the Lincoln going strong for another 100 years,\u201d said Jere LaFollette, a longtime supporter in Mount Vernon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The celebration will include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Centennial Concert, April 24 \u2014 live music featuring local artists\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/chrisegerband.com\/live\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chris Eger\u00a0<\/a>and\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/savannawoodsmusic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Savanna Woods<\/a>\u00a0with the winner of Lincoln Theatre\u2019s April 4 Battle of the Bands event as the opening act.<\/li>\n<li>The Community Showcase, April 25 \u2014 a variety show including local groups that regularly perform at the Lincoln.<\/li>\n<li>A silent film event \u2014 Live ragtime by\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KKatsRagtime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Karen and the K Cats<\/a>, a selection of silent cinema from 1926 including cartoons, news reels, travelogues and a feature-length film accompanied by a live score featuring the Mighty Wurlitzer pipe organ.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Downtown Mount Vernon will offer a walking tour of its historic theaters, a driving tour of historic theaters in Skagit County and a new blog about the history of the Lincoln.<\/p>\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"alignright size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"700\" height=\"394\" src=\"https:\/\/salish-current.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Museum-of-Northwest-Art-Procenium-courtesy-Timothy-Mickleburgh-700x394-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-21141\" srcset=\"https:\/\/salish-current.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Museum-of-Northwest-Art-Procenium-courtesy-Timothy-Mickleburgh-700x394-1.jpg 700w, https:\/\/salish-current.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Museum-of-Northwest-Art-Procenium-courtesy-Timothy-Mickleburgh-700x394-1-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">A replica of Lincoln Theatre\u2019s proscenium is featured at La Conner\u2019s Museum of Modern Art, \u201cBehind the Curtain: 100 Years at the Historic Lincoln Theatre,\u201d on display through May 3. (Courtesy Timothy Mickleburgh)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>Now through May 3, La Conner\u2019s Museum of Northwest Art is showcasing\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.monamuseum.org\/outside-in-gallery-behind-the-curtain\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cBehind the Curtain: 100 Years at the Historic Lincoln Theatre,<\/a>\u201d a display of artifacts and replicas of the history and current art forms at the theater that appeals to all ages, including interactive displays, photographs, audio and physical models.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-tradition-and-innovation-nbsp\">Tradition and innovation\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>The Lincoln Theatre officially opened on April 21, 1926, as a vaudeville and silent movie house. Now it serves as a cultural hub where community members work together to bring a variety of programs to the stage.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jessica Waggoner, director of operations, said the Lincoln averages just over six events per week, ranging from fundraisers and local school performances to classic and contemporary movies and touring theater productions. (Courtesy Damian Vines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>LaFollette said that in these difficult times a sense of community could not be more important, both for mental and social health. Volunteers keep the theater humming, serving as ushers and ticket-takers, pouring wine, dishing up popcorn, and acting as stagehands.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the films screened recently at the Lincoln include \u201cOne Battle After Another,\u201d \u201cHamnet,\u201d \u201cBarefoot in the Park,\u201d the Metropolitan Opera\u2019s \u201cLive in HD: \u2018I Puritani\u2019,\u201d a \u201cFrozen\u201d sing-along and National Theatre Live\u2019s \u201cLife of Pi.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Live music coming up includes Irish folk group Lunasa, Seattle\u2019s Polyrhythmics and Iris Dement.<\/p>\n<p>Upcoming theatrical productions include the return of the popular \u201cAlways, Patsy Cline\u201d and \u201cPsychic\u201d comedian Peter Antoniou.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Joani Pfeiffer, who\u2019s volunteered at the Lincoln for about six years and is on the Lincoln Foundation board, said that the theater\u2019s goal is to provide something for everyone. (Courtesy Damian Vines)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>According to the website, of the 98 Wurlitzer organs remaining in their original theaters in the United States, the Lincoln\u2019s Wurlitzer is one of only two 2-manual, 7-rank D-2 Full Unit Orchestra models. That means it features seven ranks of pipes, an original Wurlitzer remote piano and a complete sound effect system for silent films, including beats, castanets, drums, cymbals, glockenspiels and marimbas, as well as a set of silver chimes mounted on the auditorium\u2019s painted columns.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-campaign-goals\">Campaign goals<\/h2>\n<p>The Centennial Campaign \u2014 with a goal of $4 million leading up to the April celebration \u2014 will allow the theater to:<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Improve comfort and safety for audiences and performers through infrastructure upgrades including an up-to-date HVAC system. This will allow a safe and comfortable temperature year-round.<\/li>\n<li>Install a comprehensive fire suppression system to bring the theater up to current safety standards.
