Online<\/a><\/p>\n Misty Copeland<\/strong><\/a> isn\u2019t dancing around her thoughts on <\/span>Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s latest hot take.<\/span><\/p>\n In fact, she\u2019s twirling with thoughtful intention. Weeks after the <\/span>Dune <\/span>actor alleged that \u201cno one cares\u201d about ballet and opera, the ballet dancer shared her perspective on his remarks. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s very interesting that he invited me to be a part of promoting <\/span>Marty Supreme<\/span> with respect to my art form,\u201d Misty said during a <\/span>March 10 panel for Aveeno<\/span><\/a> in New York City. \u201cI think it\u2019s important that we acknowledge that, yes, this is an art form that\u2019s not \u2018popular\u2019 and a part of pop culture as movies are. But that doesn\u2019t mean it doesn\u2019t have enduring relevance in culture.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Indeed, the 43-year-old\u2014the first black woman to be principal dancer at the American Ballet Theatre\u2014was featured in <\/span>Marty Supreme<\/span>\u2019s campaign on Instagram last November. That month, the film\u2019s official account posted a photo of her wearing a <\/span>Marty Supreme <\/span>jacket and a throwback shot of her dancing as a child, describing her evolution as a reminder to \u201cDream Big.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Considering the movie sees Timoth\u00e9e (who stars as table tennis player <\/span>Marty Mauser<\/span><\/a>) confidently following his dreams, even when the odds are against him, Misty was surprised to hear his discouraging comments about the arts.<\/span><\/p>\n More from E! Online<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cThere\u2019s a reason that opera and ballet have been around for over 400 years,\u201d she explained. \u201cI think when you have access and opportunity to be a part of something, that can change your life. The work I\u2019ve been doing my whole career is to bring more people into it, so that people do understand the importance and relevance of it in our communities and our culture.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n The <\/span>Firebird<\/span> author confessed, \u201cHe wouldn\u2019t be an actor and have the opportunities he has as a movie star if it weren\u2019t for opera and ballet and their relevance. All of these mediums have a space and we shouldn\u2019t be comparing them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n True to her words, Timoth\u00e9e compared how the world interacts with movies to other art forms in his interview with <\/span>Matthew McConaughey<\/strong><\/a> in February. <\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI admire people who go on a talk show and say, \u2018Hey, we\u2019ve got to keep movie theaters alive,\u2019\u201d the 30-year-old said during their <\/span>Variety<\/span> and celebrity.land <\/span><\/a>conversation for Actors on Actors. \u201cI don\u2019t want to be working in ballet or opera, where it\u2019s like, \u2018Keep this thing alive even though no one cares about this anymore.\u2019 All respect to the ballet and opera people out there.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n James Devaney\/GC Images<\/p>\n But Misty wasn\u2019t the only creative that reacted to Timoth\u00e9e\u2019s comments.
