But as always, the wave of change in Chicago never slows\u2014there\u2019s constant push for something new. And this time, it\u2019s <strong>classical music<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In a recent study conducted across 10 countries, it shows that specifically in the US it\u2019s <strong>young Americans leading the charge<\/strong>: 49% of classical concert attendees aged <strong>18\u201344<\/strong> have been to <strong>three or more performances in the past year.<\/strong> So much for the stereotype that it\u2019s all older concertgoers \u2014 but why is this happening?<\/p>\n<h2>Why are the US\u2019s youth choosing classical music? In fact, <strong>52% of Americans<\/strong> cited <strong>\u201csharing the experience with others\u201d<\/strong> as their <strong>main reason<\/strong> for attending, signaling a shift toward more intimate, collective social moments\u2014away from the club scene.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>other most cited reason<\/strong>, is simply to <strong>\u201cexperience classical music live\u201d<\/strong>. Makes sense\u2014imagine a <strong>string quartet<\/strong> reinterpreting <strong>hip-hop beats,<\/strong> or your <strong>favorite film scores<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Another <strong>26% of Americans<\/strong> said it was the <strong>\u2018visual effects\u2019<\/strong> accompanying these classical concerts that made the events even more appealing. Maybe it\u2019s for the<strong> Instagram posts<\/strong>, or purely for the vibes, but either way, it seems classical music concerts are leading a new type of charge.<\/p>\n<h2>And, luckily, Chicago has it all going on\u2026<\/h2>\n<p>About 11% of Americans said the idea of classical music being \u201cformal\u201d can be off-putting. But that <strong>formality is really a faux pas<\/strong>\u2014especially in Chicago\u2019s scene.
