Both adventurous and accessible, the band alternates English and Louisiana French lyrics and doesn&#8217;t typically use guitars; percussion, violin and keyboards dominate the sound. Sweet Crude&#8217;s catalog includes the 2020 national release \u201cOfficiel\/\/Artificiel\u201d on Verve Forecast.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI listened to them, and I fell in love with their music,&#8221; said Dave Hurlbert, the ballet&#8217;s co-founder and executive director of the Marigny Opera House. &#8220;They have a wide variety of what they do in all kinds of genres.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"2\" style=\"position:relative;\">\n<div class=\"col-md-8\">\n<p>To go along with the only-in-Louisiana music, the Marigny Opera Ballet\u00a0commissioned works from <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/shaneurton\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\">choreographers Shane Urton<\/a> and Amalia Najera that feature seven dancers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Najera\u2019s ballet will lead off the evening with her original piece titled \u201cUn Autre Soir,\u201d French for \u201cAnother Night&#8221; that includes seven songs by Sweet Crude. Following a 15-minute intermission will be Urton\u2019s ballet, \u201cHomecoming,\u201d with five songs by Sweet Crude.<\/p>\n<p>Urton, a native of North Carolina now living in Belgium, is affiliated with that country\u2019s Opera Ballet Vlaanderen. The theme revolves around a swamp environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea of the title is to make you think of how lucky we are to live in New Orleans and in a swamp environment where it isn\u2019t just another night,\u201d Najera continued. \u201cThe swamp is very vibrant and active. It may be just another night everywhere else in the world, but here in Louisiana, it\u2019s a living and vibrant ecosystem, full of life.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div data-breakout=\"5\" style=\"position:relative;\">\n<div class=\"col-md-8\">\n<p>The seven dancers taking part in the performances are Edward Spots, Lauren Guynes, Kennedy Walker, Allyssa Nelson, Chloe Roberts, Nicholas Buynitzki and Claudio Caverni.
