Adam Lambert<\/a> has spoken to NME<\/em> about why it is more important than ever for people to speak out in support of trans rights, and revealed that he has a new solo project coming later this year.<\/p>\n The solo star and Queen<\/a> frontman caught up with us backstage at the \u2018Trans Mission\u2019 show at Wembley Arena<\/a> last night (Wednesday March 11), which raised funds for non-profit organisations Good Law Project<\/a> and Not A Phase<\/a>.<\/p>\n He took to the stage to break out two of his tracks, joining a stacked line-up that included Wolf Alice<\/a>, Beth Ditto<\/a>, Sugababes<\/a>, Olly Alexander<\/a>, HAAi<\/a>, Jasmine.4.T<\/a>, Kae Tempest<\/a>, Kate Nash<\/a>, MNEK<\/a>, Romy<\/a>, Sophie Ellis-Bextor<\/a>.<\/p>\n The night also saw guest appearances from Sir Ian McKellen<\/a>, Jordan Stephens<\/a>, Munroe Bergdorf, Nicola Coughlan, Russell Tovey, Tia Kofi, Zack Polanski and more.<\/p>\n Backstage, Lambert opened up to us about why he \u201csaid yes without hesitation\u201d when he was asked to take part.<\/p>\n \u201cThese are the types of events and causes that I always try to put my energy into,\u201d he told NME<\/em>, adding that the message of \u201cinclusivity\u201d aligned with both his own views and those of Queen. \u201cThis is when being an artist is amazing, because we can use our platforms to affect the greater good and create a great ripple effect.\u201d<\/p>\n He also shared his stance on whether an event of that scale could be seen in the United States right now, and said that it had inspired him to consider curating a similar event on that side of the pond \u2013 particularly as it is \u201call pretty hardcore right now\u201d with \u201ceverything that is going on politically\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cTrans people have definitely been targeted by the current administration in the US,\u201d he continued. \u201cThere are events going on, but something like this at this scale would be amazing. Maybe I\u2019ll help try and put something together.\u201d<\/p>\n Lambert also told NME<\/em> about why he thought it was so important for people to speak up in solidarity with LGBTQIA rights, saying that it ultimately boils down to being a \u201chuman rights issue\u201d and giving people the same level of respect you\u2019d like to be given.<\/p>\n \u201c[It\u2019s about] if you can look in the mirror and say that you treat people how you\u2019d want to be treated. That\u2019s a simple way of putting it. Everyone deserves respect and everyone deserves the safety of being able to exist. Trans people are no exception to that,\u201d he told NME<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cIn many cases right now, trans people are being so scrutinised and so under the microscope, [so] if you have some compassion and if you want to treat people how you\u2019d want to be treated, just do something, even if it\u2019s small.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you can\u2019t make a donation, just put something on social media, or repost something. Get some visibility going because every single thing helps.\u201d<\/p>\n As for what he had planned for after the \u2018Trans Mission\u2019 show, Lambert revealed that there was \u201cnothing going on at the moment with Queen\u201d as the band are \u201call chilling\u201d and taking some time away from writing new music.<\/p>\n However, he did share plans for new solo material \u2013 saying that he had been working on his \u201cown project for the past year-and-a-half\u201d.<\/p>\n \u201cThere is definitely new music on the horizon.
