Louisiana-born stand-up comedian Theo Von<\/a> will not ride as a special guest in the Wearin’ of the Green St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Baton Rouge on Saturday, but there are late additions to the lineup.<\/p>\n

Fresh from their state championship wins, members of the University High<\/a>, Southern Lab<\/a> and Zachary High<\/a> girls’ basketball teams will be atop the champions’ float.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

“The community has really come together to give these kids this opportunity to be celebrated,” float organizer Darryl Hurst said Thursday afternoon, adding that the float has a sponsor, and the entry fee has been taken care of.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Mabyn Shingleton, a The Parade Group LLC spokesperson, confirmed Von’s late exit from the parade.<\/p>\n

Shingleton added that U.S. Sen. Bill Cassidy will be riding in the parade as a dignitary, but Baton Rouge Mayor-President Sid Edwards declined an invitation as he will be attending a funeral on Saturday.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“Can’t make this, Baton Rouge! Have shows in Jacksonville this weekend. See y’all next year. Love y’all,” Von, 45, posted on X earlier Thursday.<\/p>\n

Von, a native of Covington, has appeared on MTV and Comedy Central shows and hosts the “This Past Weekend” podcast.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n

Von has a Friday night show and two Saturday shows in Florida, according to his website.<\/p>\n
