Lord Sear, a DJ and hip-hop radio personality who toured with Eminem and worked on his Shade 45 channel, has died. He was 52. <\/p>\n
His death was announced Wednesday on social media<\/a>. No cause of death was given. <\/p>\n \u201cHe was more than a voice on the radio \u2014 he was a force, a friend, and family to so many of us,\u201d read the tribute<\/a> posted to Sear\u2019s Instagram page. \u201cLord Sear\u2019s legacy in hip hop runs deep. … [H]e helped shape the culture at every level.\u201d <\/p>\n Described as \u201ca cornerstone of the Shade 45 family,\u201d Sear had been involved with the SiruisXM hip-hop station created by Eminem since its inception in 2004. <\/p>\n \u201cSear was one of the greatest people to be around, I will never forget how he made me laugh on our tour together,\u201d Eminiem wrote<\/a> Wednesday on X. \u201cOur time on [Shade 45] together was always some of my favorite interviews. He made the world a better place and I\u2019m gonna seriously miss that.\u201d <\/p>\n Born July 7, 1973, Sear, also known as Steve Watson, got his start working alongside rappers such as Kurious in the 1990s. The New Yorker then landed a job with the underground hip-hop radio show, \u201cThe Stretch Armstrong and Bobbito Show,\u201d which has been credited with introducing audiences to artists such as Biggie Smalls, Eminem<\/a>, Jay-Z, the Wu-Tang Clan<\/a> and the Fugees. <\/p>\n In addition to his work on radio, Sear was known for his work as a rapper, DJ and producer. He joined Eminem on the Anger Management Tour<\/a> in the 2000s. Sear even lent his voice to video games \u201cGrand Theft Auto III<\/a>\u201d and \u201cGrand Theft Auto IV,\u201d according to IMDb.<\/p>\n Most recently, he was the host of his own show, \u201cThe Lord Sear Special,\u201d on satellite radio SiriusXM. <\/p>\n Actor Jaleel White<\/a>, and hip-hop stars Ludacris<\/a>, Xzibit, E-40<\/a> and Fat Joe were among those who paid tribute in the comments of the Instagram post announcing Sear\u2019s death. <\/p>\n \u201cI will never set foot in that Sirius-XM building and not think of you,\u201d White wrote. \u201cYour spirit was gynormous, Sear.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cLove you Sear.
