With \u201cIs The Bear a comedy?\u201d debate still ongoing, FX<\/a> is adding another title to the conversation, The Lowdown<\/a>, opting to submit the hourlong noir series starring Ethan Hawke<\/a> as a comedy for the 2026 Emmy Awards.<\/p>\n

That is a shift for the show, which was submitted as a drama for the Golden Globes, guild and other awards races over the last several months. In FX\u2019s January Season 2 renewal announcement, The Lowdown<\/a> was labeled as a \u201cWestern-noir drama.\u201d The series\u2019 biggest awards recognition to date has been making AFI Awards\u2019 list of the Top 10 television programs of 2025.<\/p>\n

The reclassification decision, which is certain to draw attention \u2014 and raise a few eyebrows \u2014 was made by FX after consultations with series\u2019 creator\/executive producer Sterlin Harjo<\/a> and star\/executive producer Hawke<\/a>, sources said.<\/p>\n
