On Thursday, March 12, The Guardian<\/a> reported that Lapotaire died on March 5. No cause of death, however, was revealed. The actress played Princess Alice<\/a>, Prince Philip<\/a>\u2018s (Tobias Menzies<\/a>) mother, in Season 3 of The Crown<\/a>. She also portrayed Princess Irina Kuragin, the wife of Prince Igor Kuragin (Rade \u0160erbed\u017eija<\/a>), in an episode of Season 5 of Downton Abbey<\/a>. Film-wise, Lapotaire\u2019s credits include Rebecca<\/a> (2020), The Young Messiah<\/a> (2016), Shooting Fish<\/a> (1997), Surviving Picasso<\/a> (1996), Lady Jane<\/a> (1986), and Antony and Cleopatra<\/a> (1972). Additionally, Lapotaire won a Tony Award in 1981 for her role as Pam Gems<\/a> in the Broadway musical Piaf.<\/div>\n
