Whatever you\u2019re in the mood for \u2014 cerebral vs. cathartic, new artists or old favorites \u2014 you\u2019ve got lots of good options to add to your record bag this weekend.<\/p>\n Happy New Music Friday!<\/p>\n Kim Gordon, <\/b>PLAY ME<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n Most people hear the name Kim Gordon and instantly think of Sonic Youth. But Gordon has been making her own mark in recent years as she steps into her 70s.<\/p>\n Her newest solo venture is the follow up to 2024\u2019s The Collective<\/i> and continues with a focus on big, aggressive beats paired with Gordon\u2019s chill delivery. Still, this particular one seems like it\u2019s leveled up by adding more melody and employing brevity. Gordon shared that \u201cwe wanted the songs to be short and to do it really fast [so] it\u2019s more focused (and maybe) more confident.\u201d We\u2019d say that from the songs we\u2019ve heard so far, she\u2019s achieved that.<\/p>\n PLAY ME<\/i> is out on indie-exclusive white vinyl and standard black at any indie store. And if you\u2019re looking to catch Gordon live, you\u2019re in luck because she\u2019ll be playing this year at Summerfest.<\/p>\n Cut Worms, <\/b>Transmitter<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/a><\/p>\n Brooklyn band Cut Worms is the longtime project of musical cowpoke Max Clarke, who\u2019s back with this new twangy rocker. We love the fact that Clarke\u2019s back to working with oft-collaborator Jeff Tweedy, who produced the record at his Loft Studio in Chicago while also contributing electric guitar and bass.
