Mariah Carey is recording new music.<\/p>\n
\nThe 56-year-old pop diva only released the album Here For It All in September 2025, but she is already working on new material and is “very excited about it”.<\/p>\n
\nShe told Variety: “I\u2019m definitely recording new music and I\u2019m very excited about it. And yeah, I\u2019m kind of like always recording new music, but I hope it will do well and people will like it. But yeah, new music.”<\/p>\n
\nAsked if she is working on a new album, she replied: “When I say that, people get upset with me. [Laughs].”<\/p>\n
\nMariah is still planning to release her lost grunge album, Someone’s Ugly Daughter, but she’s not sure when.<\/p>\n
\nAsked if the version with her lead vocals will be released, she said: “Well, I want to have this happen, but you know, I gotta wait.”<\/p>\n
\nAsked what is getting in the way, she insisted: “[Laughs] I don\u2019t know. I just literally have to wait a minute and put it out. And I\u2019m going to do it. I\u2019m going to do it. It\u2019s just, you know, a whole thing.”<\/p>\n
\nThe We Belong Together hitmaker – who is nominated for entry into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for the third time this year – also revealed her plans for the 25th anniversary of her Glitter movie and soundtrack album.<\/p>\n
\nThe 2001 romantic musical drama initially flopped at the box office, but its soundtrack went on to earn such a devoted following that fans launched a Justice For Glitter campaign in 2018 – ultimately pushing the album back onto charts around the world.<\/p>\n
\nAsked how she plans to mark the milestone, she said: “Plans for a deluxe and a reissue, or maybe just one, I don\u2019t know. We\u2019re getting on top of it. I\u2019m excited about it.”<\/p>\n
\nBecause of its poor performance, Mariah didn’t like Glitter, but she learned to love it.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: “I used to hate it. I used to be so like, why did I do that? And then, you know, it became something that I really loved and it just sort of took on its own thing.”<\/p>\n
\nAsked why, she said: “Because it was a disastrous flop. [Laughs].”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
