Paramount Pictures<\/a> and Hasbro<\/a> are not moving forward with a take on a new G.I. Joe<\/a> movie from screenwriter Max Landis<\/a>, multiple sources told Variety.<\/p>\n

Landis<\/a>, son of \u201cTrading Places<\/a>\u201d director John Landis<\/a>, was engaged by the studio and the toymaker earlier this year for a script treatment surrounding the iconic action figures. New film leadership at Paramount<\/a> are prioritizing the relaunch of this IP and others, including \u201cStar Trek<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paramount passed on Landis\u2019 treatment for creative reasons, one source added. The studio is still in talks with and awaiting scripts from other writers, including \u201cThe Righteous Gemstones<\/a>\u201d star Danny McBride<\/a>.<\/p>\n
