A reboot of \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d is no longer in the works, Sarah Michelle Gellar announced.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
\u201cSo, I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me,\u201d the actor, who was slated to reprise her eponymous role as Buffy Summers, said Saturday in a video<\/a> posted on Instagram.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale\u201d was slated to air on Hulu and serve as a sequel to the original \u201990s supernatural drama. In her video, Gellar said the streaming service had \u201cdecided not to move forward\u201d with the series.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The actor thanked director Chlo\u00e9 Zhao, who has been attached to the reboot as both director and executive producer.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cI never thought I would find myself back in Buffy\u2019s stylish yet affordable boots, and thanks to Chlo\u00e9, I was reminded how much I love her, and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you,\u201d Gellar said. \u201cAnd this doesn\u2019t change any of that.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Hulu did not immediately reply to a request for comment from celebrity.land, but Variety reported<\/a> that a source close to the show said the company has \u201ca lot of love\u201d for Buffy and that \u201cbasically, the door is still open\u201d for related projects.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
