Thousands lined the streets as the Naples St. Patrick’s Day Parade celebrated its 50th anniversary<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

<\/story-highlights> The shamrocks, the river dancers, the marching bands: The Naples St. Patrick\u2019s Day Parade turned downtown Naples green on Saturday, March 14.<\/p>\n But the 50th<\/sup> annual parade almost never happened.<\/p>\n Organizers canceled the parade in January<\/a> over new, more expensive security costs charged by the City of Naples. Then the Naples community saved the day<\/a>. Prominent residents and business owners donated the money to cover those expenses.<\/p>\n So the cherished Naples tradition did happen, after all, packing downtown\u2019s streets with smiling fans Saturday.
