Jenny McCarthy<\/a>\u2018s time on The View<\/a><\/em> may have been short, but it was long enough for her to decide whether or not she would be interested in returning to the show as a host.<\/p>\n The Masked Singer<\/em><\/a> star was a panelist on the The View<\/em> back in 2014, but left the show after less than a year. In a new interview, McCarthy says she was brought onto the show to cover pop culture rather than heavy political and current affairs issues. They wanted her to be the \u201clight and fluffy\u201d panelist.<\/p>\n \u201cThe reason why they wanted to bring me on was because they, quote, said it was \u2018too polarizing.\u2019 They thought it was too polarizing back then, you guys,\u201d McCarthy recalled in a sneak peek clip of The Katie Miller Podcast\u2019s Tuesday, January 6, episode, posted by Us Weekly<\/a>. \u201cAnd so, they\u2019re like, \u2018We want to bring you on for light and fluffy and fun, review people on Dancing With the Stars<\/a><\/em>, talk about The Bachelor<\/em><\/a>, have some fun.’\u201d<\/p>\n McCarthy said her lighthearted pop culture commentary lasted only a week before the show\u2019s discussion topics shifted. \u201cBack then, I didn\u2019t consider myself to be a political person, which is why I thought I was perfect for the job. After a week, when they said they wanted it political, I was like, \u2018Oh, my God. What am I going to do?’\u201d she shared. \u201cThey\u2019re like, \u2018Today, we\u2019re gonna be discussing the hostage situation and whether the United States government should pay the ransom or not.\u2019 And I was like, \u2018What?\u2019 I\u2019m like, \u2018I just know who won on Dancing With the Stars<\/em>.’\u201d<\/p>\n While McCarthy\u2019s time on The View<\/em> became \u201creally difficult,\u201d it also helped her grow and shape her own political opinions. \u201cI\u2019m much more political now in terms of having opinions because of, thank God, our latest administration has helped so much,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n ABC<\/p>\n<\/div>\n As for whether she would return to The View<\/em>\u2018s hosting panel? \u201cThey\u2019ve asked me to come back for, like, reunion shows. And I was like, \u2018Over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place,\u201d McCarthy revealed.<\/p>\n McCarthy exited the series after less than one year on the show in 2014, shortly after cohost Sherri Shepherd<\/a> announced her own departure. It was during her run on the show that she announced her engagement to her now-husband, Donnie Wahlberg<\/a>, whom she wed in August 2014.<\/p>\n In the years since she left The View<\/em>, McCarthy has cohosted several Dick Clark\u2019s New Year\u2019s Rockin\u2019 Eve<\/em><\/a> specials, guest-hosted shows such as Entertainment Tonight<\/a><\/em>, and starred alongside Wahlberg on the reality series Donnie Loves Jenny<\/a><\/em>, which ran for three seasons on A&E from 2015 to 2016.<\/p>\n Her most notable gig since leaving The View<\/em> has been as a judge on Fox\u2019s singing competition series The Masked Singer<\/em>. McCarthy has appeared on the series since its first season in 2019.
