The Buffy the Vampire Slayer<\/a><\/em> reboot, titled Buffy: New Sunnydale<\/em><\/a>, is not moving forward at Hulu<\/a>, Sarah Michelle Gellar<\/a> announced on social media. And fans are devastated.<\/p>\n On Saturday, March 14, the actress who played Buffy Summers took to Instagram<\/a> with a video message for her followers.<\/p>\n \u201cSo, I am really sad to have to share this, but I wanted you all to hear it from me,\u201d Gellar began. \u201cUnfortunately, Hulu has decided not to move forward with Buffy: New Sunnydale<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n After thanking Chlo\u00e9 Zhao<\/a>, who would have directed the revival series, Gellar admitted, \u201cI never thought I would find myself back in Buffy\u2019s stylish yet affordable boots, and thanks to Chlo\u00e9, I was reminded how much I love her, and how much she means not only to me, but to all of you. And this doesn\u2019t change any of that.\u201d<\/p>\n She concluded, \u201cAnd I promise, if the apocalypse actually comes, you could still beep me.\u201d<\/p>\n In the comments, Buffy<\/em> fans flooded Gellar with their shock and disappointment over the reboot series ending before it even had a chance to begin. One Instagram user lamented, \u201cNot being dramatic, but this has absolutely ruined my year.
