The dramatic look was very Morticia Addams coded, but suitable for the director of \u201cHamnet,\u201d a film that centers on the family life of William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal) and his wife Anne \u201cAgnes\u201d Hathaway (Jessie Buckley) as they cope with the death of their 11-year-old son, Hamnet (Jacobi Jupe). Zhao is nominated for a Best Director Oscar for her work on the film.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The look could also have doubled as a mourning outfit for the cancellation of the upcoming \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d reboot, titled \u201cBuffy: New Sunnydale,\u201d which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar and \u201cThe Lowdown\u201d star Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Zhao directed.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
