Families across the UK celebrated Mother\u2019s Day yesterday, and the Royal Family were no exception<\/a>. While Mother\u2019s Day can be a happy event for people, for many, it can cause some sadness, especially for those whose mothers are no longer around.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Sharing the photograph, which showed a two-year-old William with his mother Diana in the garden at Highgrove in Gloucestershire, William wrote: \u201cRemembering my mother, today and every day.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The future King continued: \u201cThinking of all those who are remembering someone they love today. Happy Mother\u2019s Day. W.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

No other photographs were shared by Kensington Palace.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

This is believed to be because this year marks Diana\u2019s 65th birthday, so William wanted to focus on his late mother for Mother\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Princess Catherine would no doubt have supported her husband\u2019s decision to make this the case.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While William\u2019s wife and three children did not meet Diana, it is believed they speak about her often<\/a>, with the children also having written Mother\u2019s Day cards to \u201cGranny Diana\u201d in the past.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The future king said: “We’ve got more photos up around the house now of her, and we talk about her a bit.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

“It’s hard because obviously Catherine didn’t know her, so she cannot really provide that level of detail, so I regularly put George and Charlotte to bed, talk about her, and just try to remind them that there are two grandmothers, there were two grandmothers in their lives. So it’s important that they know who she was and that she existed.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
