\n\tIt\u2019s a supersized week when it comes to new country songs with an embarrassment of riches from superstars Luke Combs<\/a> and Lainey Wilson<\/a>, newer artists like Colton Bowlin and long-absent fan favorites such as Jo Dee Messina.<\/p>\n \t\t\t\t\tExplore\t\t<\/p>\n<\/h3>\n See latest videos, charts and news<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n \n\tContemporary Christian artist Brandon Lake continues to be the duet partner of choice for country artists who want to share their faith and his duet with Bailey Zimmerman<\/a> is another heartfelt entry in his crossover canon.<\/p>\n \n\tWe already wrote about Carly Pearce<\/a> and Riley Green\u2019s sultry new duet<\/a>, as well as Kacey Musgraves<\/a>\u2019 wry new track<\/a>, so we\u2019re leaving them off here, but they are songs well worth seeking out. \u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tCheck out Billboard<\/em>\u2019s roundup of some of the best country, bluegrass and\/or Americana songs of the week below.<\/p>\n \n\t\u00a0Luke Combs, \u201cI Ain\u2019t No Cowboy\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tWith two songs\u2013 \u201cDays Like These\u201d and \u201cSleepless In A Hotel Room\u201d\u2013 \u00a0from his new album still nestled in the top 10 of the Country Airplay chart, superstar Combs gives one more tease from The Way I Am<\/em> before it drops on Friday (March 20). It\u2019s a broken-hearted ballad co-written by Combs, Jake Mears and real cowboy Cody Johnson. Lots of horse and cowboy imagery sets the scene for a doomed romance that just may have succeeded if Combs \u201ccould\u2019ve been more like John Wayne\u201d and \u201croped her heart back in.\u201d \u00a0Instead, he\u2019s watching as \u201cshe saddled up and she kicked up a cloud of dust,\u201d leaving him with nothing but regrets.<\/p>\n \n\tLainey Wilson, \u201cI Can\u2019t Sit Still\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tThe reigning CMA entertainer of the year returns with a rollicking stomp of a song where the frenetic music perfectly matches the driving lyrics. \u201cI\u2019m an outside dog on an inside leash\u201d she declares as the frustration of anyone trying to hold her down grows. \u201cI ain\u2019t caught my breath since I took my first\/ so I guess I\u2019ll rest when I\u2019m in the dirt,\u201d she sings. \u00a0The escalating \u201crunning and gunning\u201d bridge adds to the heart-racing pace. Wilson wrote the song with longtime collaborators,\u00a0Trannie Anderson and Dallas Wilson, as well as Aslan Freeman.<\/p>\n \n\tThe lyrics seem especially appropriate given that Wilson\u2019s first major movie, Reminders of Him<\/em>, opened Friday and the documentary Lainey Wilson: Keepin\u2019 Country Cool<\/em> premieres at SXSW this week (and debuts on Netflix April 22). \u00a0While the song may be autobiographical, anyone who has felt the internal pressure to keep pushing will relate.<\/p>\n \n\tBailey Zimmerman and Brandon Lake, \u201cJust Believe\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tHot off collaborations with Jelly Roll (\u201cHard Fought Hallelujah\u201d) and Cody Johnson (\u201cWhen A Cowboy Prays\u201d), top contemporary Christian artist Lake joins Zimmerman for this inspirational mid-tempo track about never giving up. The two trade verses with Lake\u2019s soulful, powerful vocals leading the way here, as Zimmerman convincingly promises: \u201cThere\u2019s a good thing coming.\u201d An uplifting ode to never giving up and letting your faith guide you through troubled times, \u201cJust Believe\u201d is destined to become a motivational rallying cry. It\u2019s a stand-alone track not on Zimmerman\u2019s current album, Different Night Same Rodeo<\/em>.<\/p>\n \n\tTucker Wetmore, \u201cSunburn\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tJust as the weather is turning warmer and spring break starts, Wetmore delivers the heat with this laid-back tune about a love that\u2019s not meant to last but sears hot while it does. \u201cYou hit me like a heat wave\/ we stayed up all night all day\/ waves crashin\u2019 outside like a thunder\/ your body on mine like a sunburn,\u201d he sings with casual charm. This one, written by Ryan Hurd, Jaxson Free and Daniel Ross, is going to be the soundtrack for beach flings all summer long. \u00a0As tongue-twisting \u201cBrunette\u201d still climbs the Country Airplay chart, Wetmore is aiming for radio domination with this fun one-two punch.<\/p>\n \n\tJo Dee Messina, \u201cSome Bridges\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tIt\u2019s been a decade since \u201890s hitmaker Jo Dee Messina has put out an album (though plenty folks discovered her through Cole Swindell\u2019s massive 2022 hit, \u201cShe Had Me At Heads Carolina,\u201d which interpolated Messina\u2019s 1996 smash, \u201cHeads Carolina, Tails California\u201d), but now she\u2019s back and as potent as ever. She\u2019s grown wise during her absence, sharing in this smoldering, \u201890s-redolent track that some bridges are worth burning, despite the adage. Messina, who co-wrote the song with Kat Higgins and James T. Slater, sounds like she never left, and is full-throated as ever. After a few one-off songs over recent years, \u201cSome Bridges\u201d is the opening salvo of Bridges<\/em>, which will arrive this summer.<\/p>\n \n\tColton Bowlin, \u201cTime For Sale\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tThere\u2019s a lived-in feeling to Bowlin\u2019s songs with truths unspooling gently through the lyrics backed by his genial guitar picking. \u201cI\u2019m no better than any other man\/ I was born a sinner and I\u2019ll die that way, I guess\/ But I tried on my own to do some things right\/ To me, I\u2019ve done too much bad to get by,\u201d the Kentucky native confesses matter of factly in the latest track from his new album, Grandpa\u2019s Mill<\/em>, which came out Friday (March 13). Bowlin worked with David Ferguson, who\u2019s produced such artists as Tyler Childers and Sturgill Simpson, and he shares a stripped-down, no-fuss point of view with those Americana stars. \u00a0<\/p>\n \n\tStephen Wilson Jr., \u201cGary\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \n\tAfter Wilson debuted \u201cGary\u201d on November\u2019s 2025 CMA Awards, the tribute to a blue-collar worker who leads a life of quiet desperation, developed a cult-like following. It peaked at No. 38 on the Country Airplay chart, but became a fan favorite and a cornerstone of his live show. It seems only fitting that actor Gary Sinese, beloved as Lt. Dan from Forrest Gump<\/em>, would star in the video that dropped Sunday (March 15).
