But no: \u2018The Man For Me\u2019 is NOT an official video, and it led us to quite the rabbit-hole on YouTube.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The story on German site Ad Hoc News said that the video was the work of New Songs Haven, and described it as \u201cnot an official release from Swift herself\u201d but \u201cthough unofficial, it feels like a natural extension of her catalog\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n So, it\u2019s an AI-generated song and an AI-generated music video.\u00a0We tracked it down here<\/a>, and\u2026 let\u2019s just say that\u00a0the disclosures need work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The title is \u2018Taylor Swift \u2013\u00a0THE MAN FOR ME. New music video.\u2019 and the top part of its description \u2013\u00a0the bit that people see if they don\u2019t click \u2018\u2026more\u2019 to see the full text \u2013 says this:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cThe wait is finally over. It\u2019s only lower down the description that AI is mentioned, and then lower still \u201cNo copyright infringement intended. This is a fan-centric, AI-assisted artistic project celebrating the music of Taylor Swift\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n New Songs Haven\u2019s channel<\/a>\u00a0also includes similarly-unofficial music videos for a range of artists, including a bunch of Rihanna ft. A$AP Rocky duets, a Drake ft. Taylor Swift one and, erm,\u00a0a Beyonc\u00e9 ft. Cristiano Ronaldo collab<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n (He\u2019s got a good set of AI-assisted pipes, it turns out. Doesn\u2019t sound very Portuguese, mind\u2026)<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n The stars featured have sharp legal teams; YouTube says it\u2019s determined to crack down on deepfakes; Vevo may have something to say about its logo being in all the thumbnail images\u2026 This channel may face a struggle to stay up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n These music videos aren\u2019t popular right now. They have a few hundred views apiece, and just over 300 subscribers for the channel itself, so there\u2019s no evidence they\u2019ve managed to game YouTube\u2019s recommendation algorithms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Even so, it\u2019s a pause for thought, in a world where soon this kind of material could be just a few clicks away for anyone to generate, whatever their technical abilities.<\/p>\n
