Wendi McLendon-Covey revealed Sunday that cosmetic surgery kept her away from the 15-year reunion of \u201cBridesmaids<\/a>\u201d at the Oscars<\/a> on Sunday.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Maya Rudolph and Ellie Kemper got together to award original score and sound \u2015 and McLendon-Covey said her phone was lighting up from people inquiring about her absence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

So she hilariously spilled the reason on Instagram with a selfie of her bandage-wrapped face.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIn response to some of the dms I\u2019m getting: I had a neck lift last week because I\u2019m tired of looking like a melting candle,\u201d she wrote. \u201cSo I had to skip the Academy Awards. No drama. Everything is fine.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Coincidentally enough, in the Oscars comedy bit the \u201cBridesmaids\u201d alums did, Melissa McCarthy read a note among several that carried a passive-aggressive tone.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cYou ladies look radiant,\u201d the message said. \u201cAll the things you\u2019ve done to your faces are very tasteful. Yours truly, Elle Fanning.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

McLendon-Covey, also known for \u201cSt. Denis Medical\u201d and \u201cThe Goldbergs\u201d on TV, played one of the bridesmaids in the 2011 film, which was a box-office hit<\/a> in part for its classic food-poisoning scene<\/a>. The movie earned a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for McCarthy and Best Original Screenplay for Wiig and Annie Mumolo.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
