Jane Fonda is questioning why Barbra Streisand \u2014 rather than her \u2014 paid tribute to Robert Redford<\/a> on the Oscars stage Sunday night during the ceremony\u2019s In Memoriam segment.<\/p>\n In an interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/a> at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party, Fonda was asked about her thoughts on this year\u2019s In Memoriam montage, specifically about the late Diane Keaton. The two actors worked together on 2018\u2019s \u201cBook Club\u201d and its 2023 sequel.<\/p>\n More from Variety<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cOh, I didn\u2019t see that!\u201d Fonda said, referring to the moment when Rachel McAdams paid tribute<\/a> to her \u201cThe Family Stone\u201d co-star Keaton. \u201cOh God, her passing really hit me hard. We lost a lot of talented people.\u201d<\/p>\n Fonda then playfully quipped, \u201cI want to know, how come Streisand was up there doing that for Redford? She only made one movie with him. I made four! I have more to say.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked what she remembered most about working with Redford, Fonda replied with a laugh, \u201cI was always in love with him.\u201d<\/p>\n Redford died on Sept. 16, 2025, at the age of 89. He and Fonda starred in four films together, including \u201cThe Chase\u201d (1960), \u201cBarefoot in the Park\u201d (1967), \u201cThe Electric Horseman\u201d (1979) and \u201cOur Souls at Night\u201d (2017).<\/p>\n In her ET red carpet interview, Fonda described Redford as the \u201cmost gorgeous human being\u201d who had \u201csuch great values.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHe did a lot for movies. He really changed movies,\u201d she continued. \u201cLifted up independent movies.\u201d<\/p>\n At the 98th Academy Awards, Streisand appeared on stage to pay tribute to Redford, her co-star in the 1973 romantic drama \u201cThe Way We Were.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAfter I read the first script of \u2018The Way We Were,\u2019 I could only imagine one man in the role and that was Robert Redford,\u201d Streisand said. \u201cBut he turned it down because he said the character had no backbone. He doesn\u2019t stand for anything, and he was right. So many drafts later, Bob finally agreed to do it.
