Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie should not lose their royal titles if the decision is made to strip their father from the line of succession. The debate over the York sisters\u2019 status has intensified amid ongoing scrutiny surrounding their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<\/a>, who was stripped of his royal titles last year following the fallout from the Jeffrey Epstein scandal<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She told the People’s Channel: \u201cStripping them (Beatrice and Eugenie) of titles would risk creating public backlash.\u201d She added: \u201cTheir roles as royal princesses and as private individuals carving out their own careers and identities remain separate from Andrew\u2019s controversies.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Although neither Beatrice nor Eugenie is a full-time working royal, they remain part of the wider royal family and still attend major events such as Christmas and Easter gatherings.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ms Carratt added: \u201cRetaining their titles maintains fairness, respects their personal achievements, and avoids unnecessary complications for the Royal Family.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Some commentators have suggested the sisters might consider quietly distancing themselves from the York name, with former BBC<\/a> royal correspondent Jennie Bond saying it could be \u201cprudent\u201d given the reputational damage surrounding their parents.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

She told the Mirror<\/a>: \u201cI don\u2019t think either of them has ever flaunted their titles, but there\u2019s obviously a huge cachet in some circles about being called a princess.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cA title like that opens doors and sets up connections, which both Beatrice and Eugenie have used to their advantage.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s nothing wrong in that, but now that their father has been stripped of his titles and their mother can no longer use hers, they might like to quietly drop the use of theirs.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t see the need for them to renounce them publicly, but it might be prudent to sever links with the York name \u2014 now so very tarnished \u2014and just use their married names.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

However, Bond also said she cannot see King Charles stripping them of their titles, unless they were personally implicated in wrongdoing, of which there is currently no evidence.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
