{"id":2332597,"date":"2026-03-17T03:57:10","date_gmt":"2026-03-17T03:57:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/?p=2332597"},"modified":"2026-03-17T03:57:10","modified_gmt":"2026-03-17T03:57:10","slug":"counting-crows-adam-duritz-asked-to-sing-on-new-gang-of-youths-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/celebrity.land\/en\/counting-crows-adam-duritz-asked-to-sing-on-new-gang-of-youths-music\/","title":{"rendered":"Counting Crows&#8217; Adam Duritz Asked to Sing on New Gang of Youths Music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/au.rollingstone.com\/?s=counting+crows\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Counting Crows<\/a> frontman Adam Duritz has revealed that he has been asked to sing on some new <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/au.rollingstone.com\/?s=gang+of+youths\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gang of Youths<\/a>\u2018 tracks.<\/p>\n<p>Appearing on the latest episode of the\u00a0<a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/episode\/5w4mkTfvHTqaDIvWzeFudB?si=11d5a623c00b45b0\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Rolling Stone Uncut<\/em> podcast<\/a>, the 61-year-old songwriter, who has a close relationship with the Australian band and sung on their 2022 album,\u00a0<em>Angel in Realtime<\/em>, said he was recently contacted by Gang of Youths frontman David Le\u2019aupepe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cDave texted me like, I guess it\u2019s like three or four days ago now, right before I left [for Australia],\u201d Duritz said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThey\u2019re working on some new stuff. He wants me to sing on some things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Duritz said he didn\u2019t know how far along Gang of Youths are in the anticipated follow-up to\u00a0<em>Angel in Realtime<\/em>, only that they are \u201cjust writing\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cI don\u2019t know how far along they are, but he said, \u2018You want to sing on some stuff?\u2019 And I said, \u2018Absolutely\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>In the podcast, Duritz explained how he and the band struck up a friendship after meeting backstage at a New York show some years ago. It\u2019s much better.\u2019 And I\u2019ve never done it before in my entire life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt wasn\u2019t like I trashed a lot of it. I rewrote the choruses for \u2018Under the Aurora\u2019. I tightened up \u2018Spaceman and Tulsa\u2019. I didn\u2019t change anything on \u2018Virginia Through the Rain.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIt was kind of a really lucky thing to me because hearing my friend\u2019s record, I thought, \u2018Oh, good. You know what? This is the level I\u2019m supposed to be working at. This is not quite there. I\u2019m going to go back and work on it.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Counting Crows will <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/au.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/counting-crows-announce-2026-australian-new-zealand-tour-85737\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">kick off their New Zealand and Australia tour<\/a> next week in Auckland.<\/p>\n<p>They were also booked as one of the headlining acts for <a rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/au.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/bluesfest-2026-cancelled-92445\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bluesfest 2026 before its cancellation<\/a> last week.
