Prince Harry<\/a> allegedly \u201ccomplained\u201d that he had been \u201cabandoned\u201d<\/a> before a major event with Meghan Markle<\/a> after they had quit the Royal Family, a new royal book has claimed. In his forthcoming book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, extracts of which have been serialised by The Times Magazine<\/a>, Tom Bower delves into how Meghan \u201crelentlessly pursued\u201d her dream of being a \u201cglobal figure\u201d on the world stage and how she was \u201cthwarted by her own ego\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Bower wrote: \u201c\u2018She\u2019s f***ed it,\u2019 groaned Robertson. Instead of speaking as agreed about the charity One Young World, Meghan\u2019s speech was focused on herself. Nearly fifty times in just ten minutes, she intended to say \u2018I\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The author also alleged that days before the event, Harry said: \u201cI\u2019ve been abandoned.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Sussex couple saw their security downgraded following their bombshell exit from the Royal Family in 2020.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mr Bower said: \u201cStressed about their security, Harry had been told that the Home Office refused to provide armed protection in Manchester and London.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBut with Meghan\u2019s insistence that her appearance was essential to sustain her brand, he decided to \u2018risk assassination\u2019.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cAt least Manchester police provided extra cover to avoid a major incident. And a whole rail carriage was reserved for the journey from London to Manchester.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
