Sony Music UK is partnering with the British Association for Performing Arts Medicine (Bapam), with the intention of connecting artists across its labels to career-related physical and mental health services.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Bapam has been a registered charity in the UK since 1984, providing UK artists and industry professionals with free career-related treatment and services, including for mental, vocal and musculoskeletal health. It has partnered with clinics<\/a> in London, Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Gateshead, Glasgow and Leeds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through the partnership, Sony Music UK reports its artists will gain access to clinicians specifically trained in music industry-oriented care, including early intervention methods, physical and psychological treatment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n \u201cSony Music UK has recognised that to thrive in a creative career, artists need specialist health support,\u201d said Bapam CEO Claire Cordeux in a press release.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cBapam brings creative sector organisations together with medical professionals who understand the unique health needs of performers and creators and have proven experience in delivering high quality services.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Sony Music\u2019s partnership with the organisation follows calls for improved healthcare access from artists including Chappell Roan<\/a>, who read a handwritten speech as she accepted the Grammy for 2025\u2019s Best New Artist:<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n \u201cI told myself if I ever won a Grammy and I got to stand up here in front of the most powerful people in music, I would demand that labels and the industry profiting millions of dollars off of artists would offer a liveable wage and healthcare, especially to developing artists.\u201d<\/p>\n
