There\u2019s a scene in Sarah Michelle Gellar\u2019s new movie, \u201cReady or Not 2: Here I Come,\u201d when her exquisitely tailored character abruptly stakes someone through the shoulder. It\u2019s a funny moment, a wink at \u201cBuffy the Vampire Slayer\u201d fans, and an excellent reminder of why we need more Gellar in our movies and shows.<\/p>\n
Alas, many of her die-hards were devastated by Hulu\u2019s recent decision not to move forward with a new \u201cBuffy\u201d series<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m definitely more disappointed for the fans,\u201d Gellar tells Alexa. \u201cThey were honestly the reason I was doing this. I have been in this industry long enough to know how this works.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n She announced the news on her Instagram<\/a> last weekend with a stiff upper lip and signature resilience. \u201cI promise, if the apocalypse actually comes, you can still beep me,\u201d she said, nodding to a famous line from the original series\u2019 first season.<\/p>\n The actor remains passionate about her work, and strong enough to weather the industry\u2019s fickleness.<\/p>\n \u201cI feel so genuinely excited to get to do the things I do, and I think it shows,\u201d says Gellar, Zooming with Alexa from her home office in LA. \u201cWhen I was younger, everything was about work. My agents would joke, \u2018Here comes the countdown, she\u2019s going to be asking what she\u2019s doing when this [project] wraps.\u2019 That was all I knew of myself since I was four!\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
