The Princess of Wales\u2014Colonel Catherine\u2014was ready to celebrate
\nSt Patrick\u2019s Day with the Irish Guards on March 17, arriving for a
\nday with her regiment in Aldershot.<\/p>\n

Catherine
\narrived for the annual St Patrick\u2019s Day Parade at Mons Barracks and
\nhanded out shamrocks to the officers and guardsmen, as well as to
\ntheir regimental mascot, an Irish Hound named Turlough Mor, or more
\ncommonly known as Seamus.<\/h5>\n

In a jam-packed morning, Catherine also presented long service
\nand good conduct medals, met with the Regimental Association
\nMembers and \u2018Mini Micks\u2019\u2014junior cadets from Northern Ireland\u2014and
\nposed for the Officers\u2019 and Sergeants\u2019 Mess photograph.<\/p>\n

The future queen also met with regiment members and their
\nfamilies in the Mess to help recognise the role they play in the
\nBritish Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

Speaking with Sky News<\/em>
\nafter Catherine\u2019s visit<\/a>, Lance Sergeant Mills said meeting the
\nfuture queen was \u201csuch a great opportunity,\u201d<\/em> and something
\nhis daughter, Vienna, had been looking forward to all week.<\/p>\n

LS Mills\u2019s wife, Jessica, said that Catherine was \u201cjust so
\neasy to talk to, and really down to earth. I wasn\u2019t actually
\nexpecting that. It\u2019s my first time getting to come to the parade,
\nso it was really lovely.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Catherine wore a deep green coat dress with black accessories
\nand the regimental brooch of the Irish Guards.
\nThe Regimental Brooch of the Irish Guards<\/a> features an
\neight-point star in the shape of that belonging to the Order of St.
\nPatrick\u2014the patron saint of Ireland\u2014with a shamrock in the centre
\noverlaid on a cross of St. Patrick.<\/p>\n

The motto that wraps around the shamrock and cross reads \u2018Quis
\nsepartabit\u2019, which means \u2018Who will separate us?\u2019 It serves as the
\nmotto of the Order of St. Patrick and also holds special meaning to
\nthe Irish regiments of the British Army.<\/p>\n

Her jewellery was otherwise simple: a pair of diamond and
\nemerald earrings that she previously debuted at the Earthshot Prize
\nceremony in Boston in 2022.<\/p>\n

Catherine accompanied her husband to the St Patrick\u2019s Day parade
\nwhen he was Colonel of the Irish Guards from 2012 to 2022;
\nfollowing this, she was named Colonel of the Regiment by her
\nfather-in-law, King Charles.<\/p>\n

On the Kensington Palace Instagram account, Catherine shared an
\nIrish message: \u201cL\u00e1 Fh\u00e9ile P\u00e1draig sona dhaoibh!\u201d<\/em> which
\nmeans \u201cHappy St. Patrick\u2019s Day to you all!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
