Jason Bateman<\/a>, who has explored the darker side of humanity in \u201cBlack Rabbit<\/a>\u201d and \u201cOzark<\/a>,\u201d will return to Netflix<\/a> to direct \u201cThe Cackling of the Dodos,\u201d the story of a small-town farmer who discovers a corpse in a grain bin.<\/p>\n

Sam Rockwell<\/a> will star in the off-beat film opposite Woody Harrelson<\/a>, reuniting the pair from \u201cThree Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri,\u201d the 2017 black comedy that won an Oscar for Rockwell<\/a> and resulted in a nomination for Harrelson.<\/p>\n

According to the official logline, the title \u201cmay sound like it will cast a spotlight on the high-pitched vocals of the long-extinct, flightless birds, but the new film is anything but a nature documentary.\u201d Instead, the discovery of a dead body sends the farmer into a \u201cchaotic, sloppy cover-up\u201d that\u2019s mandated by his boss. The film is based on an original screenplay by novelist Rye Curtis<\/a>, who wrote \u201cKingdomtide.\u201d<\/p>\n
