The swelling hum of motion in a mass\u00a0of bodies.\u00a0<strong>KLIMT 1918<\/strong>\u00a0capture many such fleeting moments in time and preserve them\u00a0through cascading walls of sound and the elegant drone of guitars.<\/p>\n<p>The Italian\u2019s\u00a0fifth album, \u201c\u00c0mor\u201d, represents a climax of their acclaimed previous work into a\u00a0most melancholic, sensual, and majestic collection of captivating music.\u00a0\u201c\u00c0mor\u201d\u00a0was born out of\u00a0silence, solitude and social distancing. Yet as a deliberate artistic\u00a0counterpoint,\u00a0<strong>KLIMT 1918<\/strong>\u00a0decided to have all their new\u00a0songs revolve around carnality, ardour, physical contact between bodies, and the urgent, compelling feelings that keep people awake at night.<\/p>\n<p>With\u00a0\u201c\u00c0mor\u201d,\u00a0<strong>KLIMT 1918<\/strong>\u00a0also take another step in the steady evolution of their sound. The influences of\u00a0avant-garde metal have been\u00a0dwindling from the start while darkwave and alternative rock rapidly grew stronger in the music of the Italians. Post-rock plays a\u00a0strong role in their latest development but instead of shyly narrowing their perspective down by gazing at their shoes,\u00a0<strong>KLIMT 1918<\/strong>\u00a0dream with open eyes,\u00a0looking up above the horizon and into the sky.<\/p>\n<p><strong>KLIMT 1918<\/strong>\u00a0emerged from the ashes of a metal band in 1999 when the\u00a0brothers Marco and Paolo Soellner rather chose to take fresh inspiration from such acts as BAUHAUS, THE CURE, and JOY DIVISION. This was also indicated by their new\u00a0band\u2019 name, which alludes to the Austrian symbolist painter and Art Nouveau pioneer Gustav Klimt, who died in 1918 while the Great War was still raging. The\u00a0debut album of the Romans, \u201cUndressed Momento\u201d, arrived in 2003 and its dark emotionality immediately garnered high praise from critics and fans alike all over Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The brothers\u2019\u00a0acclaimed sophomore album \u201cDopoguerra\u201d (2005) widely expanded their following and put\u00a0<strong>KLIMT 1918<\/strong>\u00a0on the touring circuit for the first time. Despite their growing success,\u00a0the band\u00a0gradually began to slow down. Their third full-length \u201cJust In Case We\u2019ll Never Meet Again (Soundtrack for the Cassette Generation)\u201d came out to strong applause in\u00a02008. This was followed eight\u00a0years later\u00a0by the\u00a0double album \u201cSentimentale Jugend\u201d at the end of 2016.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With the band going strong, hardly anybody expected that it would take almost a decade for the next studio album. Then again, it was time well spent. The extended songwriting period that was fuelled by experience both live and in studio is well reflected on \u201c\u00c0mor\u201d. As a crowning glory,\u00a0<strong>KLIMT 1918<\/strong>\u00a0were artistically\u00a0knighted when the legendary Tony Doogan accepted to mix \u2018\u00c0mor\u2019\u00a0and\u00a0Frank Arkwright (Abbey Road Studios) added his mastering genius.
