\n\tCurtis \u201c50 Cent<\/a>\u201d Jackson\u2019s ambitious effort to develop a production base in Louisiana for his G-Unit Studios took another step forward as the state revealed a finalized deal for an investment and redevelopment plan.<\/p>\n

\n\tUnder the agreement, Jackson\u2019s company will invest $124 million to renovate venue space Stageworks, update a production campus formerly owned by Millennium Studios and build a \u201cdome-style immersive venue and green space park\u201d in the city of Shreveport, the Louisiana Economic Development office said on Monday. The state said it agreed to provide $50 million \u201cin performance-based funding\u201d for infrastructure at those sites.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBy reinvesting in downtown Shreveport and upgrading existing assets to create state-of-the-art entertainment and production facilities, we are creating jobs, inspiring hope, attracting new productions, and giving the entire entertainment industry a reason to build their futures right here,\u201d Jackson stated.<\/p>\n

\n\tLouisiana Gov. Jeff Landry added, \u201cwe\u2019re thrilled to welcome yet another project that sees the strength, talent and potential of this region.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tTwo years ago this April, Jackson held a press conference and unveiled blueprints for G-Unit Studios in the city, likening the plan to the expansive production soundstage space that Tyler Perry had built outside of Atlanta. A long-term lease with the city for Stageworks was announced last year. <\/p>\n

\n\tJackson has a longtime, sometimes contentious producing partnership with Starz owing to the hit Power<\/em> franchise and its spinoffs. In late October, Starz\u00a0formally canceled drama series\u00a0BMF<\/em> after four seasons. A month later, in response to a Hollywood Reporter<\/em> earnings article on Starz\u2019 $53 million in quarterly losses, 50 Cent wrote<\/a> on Instagram, \u201cSee what happens when I stop working, let\u2019s make STARZ great again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOn Starz\u2019 earnings call in November president and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch called out the Jackson and G-Unit produced boxing drama Fightland <\/em>as the company\u2019s first studio original greenlit since its spinoff from Lionsgate. The series is currently in production in London.<\/p>\n

\n\tG-Unit produces for multiple studios and has broadened its scope to nonfiction, audio, film and television. The company recently produced Netflix\u2019s Sean Combs: The Reckoning<\/em>, which has held as the second most-watched project on Nielsen\u2019s streaming ratings chart for two consecutive weeks, below the blockbuster Stranger Things<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\n\tG-Unit inked a deal with Fox Entertainment in 2023 to develop new projects and made a deal with Fox News for true-crime series\u00a050 Ways to Catch a Killer<\/em> on Fox Nation. Jackson\u2019s studio is also developing Ron Stallworth non-fiction tome The Gangs of Zion<\/em> as a Hulu project titled Hip Hop Cop<\/em>. Other projects include\u00a0The Massacre<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Queen Nzinga<\/em>\u00a0for Starz and\u00a0Trill League<\/em>\u00a0for BET+.<\/p>\n
