It’s no secret that U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is essentially the modern day Gestapo (or GFP, or Sov-Com, or an extreme COINTELPRO \u2013 take your pick). From taking swabs of DNA from protestors<\/a> to separating children from their families<\/a>, ICE sucks. Extinction A.D.<\/strong> knows it too, and they wrote a brand new protest song called “Thaw”.<\/p>\n On the single, vocalist Rick Jimenez<\/strong> said: “It’s very easy to assume writing an anti-authoritarian song is pass\u00e9 in heavy music in 2026, but as a band that exists in both the metal world and the hardcore world, it’s surprisingly polarizing.<\/p>\n “The ‘defenders of the status quo’ all the way to the ‘regressive back-to-the-past’ thinking infiltrating our scenes is purely bizarre to me. This song is an unabashed condemnation of the abuse of federal power in the ICE organization and the denial of celebrating racist and fascist ideals under the guise of supporting politicians.<\/p>\n “The video for ‘Thaw’ was to bring like-minded people into our world and be just as, if not more, important than the four members of the band.
