A lot of us had very, very young kids at the time and yeah, we met up in Austin,&#8221; Cook said. &#8220;And watched the movie there and they made the mistake of giving us some really strong margaritas before the movie.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Cook added that Larissa Oleynik, who played Dawn in the film, had an especially funny reaction.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;Larissa, I&#8217;m about to sell you out hard right now because I&#8217;ve never laughed harder than we start watching the movie and Peter Horton comes on, who plays Christie&#8217;s father,&#8221; Cook said. &#8220;And we realized now as full grown women that like, &#8216;This guy&#8217;s hot.&#8217; &#8220;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">She continued: &#8220;We were like, &#8216;What? Wait a minute.&#8217; Larissa goes, &#8216;Oh, yeah. Christy&#8217;s dad.&#8217; Like, just the whole theater [was laughing]. But I was like, &#8216;Well Skyler&#8217;s the lead and nobody really wants to be Mary Anne. I&#8217;m just sort of here because probably it was just sort of low key the easier part to get,'&#8221; she added. &#8220;I was probably telling myself things to sort of undercut the win, to not be intimidated by the moment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Cook added that the cast all became friends while filming though it&#8217;s been difficult to keep in touch as time goes on.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I wish that we had been able to sort of like keep in touch and keep that going because even though I got to be a part of that movie \u2014 which was so much about female friendship and the power of it \u2014 and then years later to make <em>Josie [and the Pussycats]<\/em> and make incredible friends out of that,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It&#8217;s as you know, hard as hell to keep in touch.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Cook added to Fishel: &#8220;And what followed those movies about amazing friendships were really lonely times. I&#8217;m sure you experienced that as well.
