\n\tOlivia Rodrigo<\/a> is slowly revealing details about her upcoming third album, telling British Vogue<\/a> in a new cover story that it\u2019s full of \u201csad love songs.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe 23-year-old pop star\u2019s follow-up to 2023\u2019s \u201cGuts\u201d has been hotly anticipated, with eagle-eyed fans looking for clues anywhere they can find them. For example, the background of her website<\/a> recently changed from a lavender purple to a shade of baby pink, and her block-lettered \u201cOR\u201d logo has been replaced by a softer, more swirly version. Fans have reported that this new aesthetic has also appeared on a mural in L.A. and a lock found in London<\/a>, with the word \u201cApril\u201d written on the side.<\/p>\n \n\tThough Rodrigo doesn\u2019t reveal the album\u2019s release date or title, she teased some of its themes to British Vogue. \u201cIt was a creative challenge to write from a joyful place,\u201d she said. \u201cWhen you\u2019re experiencing that you\u2019re connected to someone, or feeling really good, you\u2019re not in your head thinking about bittersweet poems!\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tDuring the interview, Rodrigo played British Vogue three songs, which writer Amel Mukhtar described as \u201cinstantly transporting, cinematic and so intimate.\u201d Rodrigo confirmed that they\u2019re all \u201csad love songs,\u201d adding: \u201cI realized all my favorite romantic love songs were beautiful because they had a tinge of fear or yearning in them.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tAs British Vogue reports, one song is about \u201cthe spirituality of finding the man of your dreams.\u201d Though Rodrigo doesn\u2019t directly address her relationship status with British actor Louis Partridge, which has been the subject of many rumors in recent months, she told British Vogue: \u201cThe person that the song is about is great.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tMukhtar wrote that the next song \u201ctraces the withdrawal symptoms of separation.\u201d It\u2019s inspired by Miranda and Steve\u2019s relationship in \u201cSex and the City,\u201d Rodrigo said, particularly Miranda\u2019s heartbreaking quote: \u201cWhenever something funny happens, I always want to tell you about it.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe third song is about the realizing that \u201clove won\u2019t fix you\u201d and is described by British Vogue as \u201cdancier\u201d and \u201cexperimental,\u201d with an \u201corchestral end.\u201d Rodrigo said the song is \u201cwhat I think being in love feels like\u201d.<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cYou\u2019re getting to the core of all of your issues: how you feel about yourself, your insecurities, what makes you joyful,\u201d she added. \u201cIt feels like the most raw form of you, which is so scary and terrifying and uncomfortable, sometimes, but beautiful at times.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tRodrigo is no stranger to speculation about her personal life, with rumors swirling upon the release of her debut single \u201cDrivers License\u201d in 2021 that it was about her ex-boyfriend Joshua Bassett and fellow Disney-kid-turned-pop-star Sabrina Carpenter. A few months after the release of her first album \u201cSour,\u201d Rodrigo told Variety<\/em><\/a> in a cover story: \u201cI don\u2019t really subscribe to hating other women because of boys. I think that\u2019s so stupid, and I really resent that narrative that was being tossed around.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tShe\u2019s since been spotted chatting to Carpenter at awards shows, and told British Vogue: \u201cI think she\u2019s great.
