King Charles took a stroll along a coastal trek named in his
\nhonour and didn\u2019t hold back in sharing his opinion on some of those
\nalso enjoying the views.<\/p>\n
As HM walked the brand new King Charles III England Coast Path,
\nhe met some cyclists out for their own spot of exercise. When The
\nKing asked them if they had the latest bikes, they replied they
\nwere actually on electric cycles. King Charles had a one word
\nanswer. Cheating.<\/p>\n
It was said with a wry smile and might well have brought back
\nmemories of his father, Prince Philip, who was known for sharing an
\nunexpected view or two during his royal engagements.<\/p>\n
The King seemed delighted to meet cyclists, other walkers and
\nholiday makers as he strolled one of the first parts of the new
\npath to be ready. His walk along the east Sussex coast brought him
\nto the spectacular view point of the Seven Sisters and he appeared
\nlost in thought as he stood and contemplated the vista on a
\nbeautifully sunny spring day.<\/p>\n
The walk was part of the official launch of the King Charles III
\nEngland Coast Path which will eventually stretch for over 2,700
\nmiles around England, and will be the longest continued and managed
\ncoastal walk in the world.<\/p>\n
His day out at the famous landmark also saw him open the Seven
\nSisters National Nature Reserve which is one of 25 such spaces
\nbeing opened to mark his Coronation which took place on May 6
\n2023.<\/p>\n
The visit came soon after King Charles had said a formal
\nfarewell to the President of Nigeria. Bola TInubu said goodbye to
\nKing Charles and Queen Camilla as the second day of his State Visit
\ngot under way.<\/p>\n
The day before, The King and Queen had hosted him at Windsor
\nCastle for a ceremonial welcome which began with a carriage
\nprocession through Windsor and which ended with a spectacular State
\nBanquet in which Charles III praised the strength of the ties
\nbetween the two countries.<\/p>\n
Charles III\u2019s encounter with cyclists isn\u2019t the first royal bike
\nevent to raise a laugh this week. Earlier in the week, Prince
\nWilliam joined BBC Radio 1 DJ, Greg James, on his epic cycle for
\nComic Relief. As the heir to the throne jumped on the back of the
\ntandem that is being taken over 1,000 miles around England, Wales
\nand Scotland, the star presenter guiding the journey told some
\npassers by that his fellow cyclist was Prince William to which the
\nfuture king replied \u201dhe\u2019s hallucinating\u2019.<\/p>\n
