(NewsNation<\/a>) \u2014\u00a0The best laid plans can go awry \u2014 especially when the person at the center of the plans refuses to go along with them.<\/p>\n Britney Spears\u2019<\/a> manager, family and friends had hoped she would enter a treatment program after her arrest for DUI<\/a> earlier this month\u2026 and that was<\/em> the plan.<\/p>\n The statement released by her manager, Cade Hudson, even said as much.<\/p>\n The statement called what happened \u201can unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable. Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in a long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney\u2019s life\u2026 Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time. Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n A huge fight at JFK Jr.\u2019s wedding ended a friendship: Exclusive <\/a><\/p>\n The plan, insiders told me, was for Spears to at the very least, enter a 30 day alcohol \u201cawareness\u201d program \u2014 if only to show the judge overseeing the case that she was taking this issue and her DUI seriously.<\/p>\n \u201dShe could lose her license and actually go to jail,\u201d the friend told me.<\/p>\n But Spears<\/a> initially refused to do any treatment plans whatsoever, I\u2019m told.<\/p>\n \u201dShe has very big trust issues, obviously,\u201d the friend said. \u201cShe is refusing to go into a treatment center and is telling everybody she can deal with (sobriety) on her own. She will not sign anything anymore because of the last conservatorship; she won\u2019t give up her freedom for anything. She has been told to stop doing the Instagram (dance videos) and to grow up. She is very childlike. The good news is, after this arrest, she sees she could lose everything, so she is committed. And she is now open to getting ahead of the issue, start rebuilding her life and re-examine the choices she has been making over the past few years. Spears later clarified on Instagram that she had twisted her ankle and felt \u201charassed\u201d by the medical response, calling the incident \u201cfake news,\u201d but according to media reports, tens of thousands of dollars of damage had been done to the room.<\/p>\n Liza Minnelli slams Lady Gaga for breaking her heart, strong arming her <\/a><\/p>\n Last May, police were called after the pop star reportedly started drinking heavily and lit a cigarette mid-flight on a private jet flying home from Cabo San Lucas.
